What is your worst season as an OU fan?

I agree with last season. Second place is a tie with Capel’s last season and this season. And I count this season as the 2018 part only and the fact that we regressed so much.

Those are the 3 seasons where I was also most disappointed with coaching. I do appreciate the team effort today though.

I don’t know how this year wasn’t everyone’s worst season .

This years squad( recruit wise) was the product of what we got from all of Buddy and company’s hard work and final four run . It ls usually the second class after a run that pays dividends .
We got our first McDonald’s All American in years , coming off a rebuilding year last season with a bunch of freshman( now sophs) who showed a lot of promise .

Now we lose our most talented player , average recruits on the horizon and ALL the momentum from two years ago is GONE.

EVERY Big 12 team is a buy and we are a sale , probably finish last in the league next year .


This is one of the lowest seasons I ever remember , just a very forgettable year.

Next year will be worse and probably the swan song for a hall of fame coach , I really hate it for Lon.

A bad time to be a loyal sooner , how things change in a couple of years in college is crazy.

Calling these young men bad character is just wrong. They worked harder this season than you ever have. Maybe some bad attitudes developed (maybe) but they still went to practice, went to class and put in personal time. They deserve better than their own fans saying crap like that.

I'm not really breaking any news here with my comments. Players on the team have already come out to the media saying the same thing, and several insiders have commented on similar things since before we even collapsed. I didn't call out any specific players.

2009-10 was easily worse than this one. That team had three McDonald's All-Americans and went 13-18. Even I, a solid "sunshine pumper," quit caring how that team did.

Saying that a team, as a whole, is not high-character doesn't make me the monster you seem to think I am.

The worst season in regards to expectations by far is the 2009-2010 team. I'm not sure that's even debatable. However, this season has to be the most frustrating based on where we were in early January. There has never been a season in OU history which started that amazing and ended so brutally.

Based on preseason expectations, this still didn't make my 5 worst seasons as an OU fan. Prior to the season, I figured if we won a game or two in the Dance, it would be a terrific season. After last year, some here would just be happy to make it to the NCAA Tournament. November and December changed our expectations by a mile.

Here are my 5 worst seasons as an OU fan based on preseason expectations. Injuries are factored in (which eliminates 1991 and 2004 from the discussion).

2) 1992-1993
3) 1979-1980
4) 2016-2017
5) 2005-2006

This season was the worst for me. Much worse than last year. I could atleast watch last year and see growth and see effort and see potential. This year was the opposite.

I think my senior year at OU was the worse I remember. I believe we won 5 games. A number of players quit in the season and they suited up the team manager who we usually thrashed in pickup games.
