Simple question: What iyo does Cade need to get better at during the offseason in order to be a better player next year? Looking for reasonable goals here.

My Thoughts:

- Being a leader (not a leader THE leader). Unlike Willie, who I just assumed could and would be a suitable and willing leader for last year's team, I know enough about Cade to call this a reasonable goal. He took some big strides this year in that he showed that he could really ball. He won games for us this year, and the process, earned the respect of his teammates as a basketball player. This team needs Cade to step up and be the vocal guy on and off the court. There will be a lot of new faces on our team next year, and Cade has a great opportunity to take the reigns and be the guy.

- Lateral quickness. No one on this board (not even Bocabull) has ever accused Cade of not giving it his all on both ends. But in order for him to be able to guard athletic, Big 12 guards at the level that this team needs him to next year, he has got to buddy up with Steven Pledger and work on his lateral quickness. I hope that will be a point of emphasis for him this offseason.

- Lastly, I would love to see him have the mindset of driving the basketball and making plays happen. He certainly made great strides in that area last year, but I think he can get even better at it. I think his priority on offense should be to attack the defense. He is really good at protecting the ball on the drive and he is an unselfish player. Let's see him set up Tiny, Cam, Aziz (crosses fingers) for some easy shots next year. I'd like to see him get away from the early shotclock three point jacks (unless he is in one of his vintage zones).

Enough of my thoughts. What say you?

shoot better than .375 from 3pt, or attempt less than 200 3's

This is my biggest thing for Cade on the offensive end. He and Pledger both could make a living with a good shot fake and driving the ball, they could live at the foul line. Also having a better shot selection, driving the ball would help that considerably.

I do agree with the lateral quickness as well and he'll be working on that I'm sure as he has expressed himself he needs to be quicker on D.

Cade will be our leader and coming from the same kind of mold as Blake and Taylor did, rooming with them, I see no reason why he can't and won't take on that bigger leadership role. Towards the end of the year I saw him make big strides with the younger players in trying to lead them, I just think it was a wasted cause with some players.

I think Cade's biggest role next season is the team leader: by example in games, by example in practices, on the floor verbal instructions, talking to the younger players off the court and keeping their heads on straight. I don't know if all players will listen to him or emulate his effort and intensity, but you're right Big, Cade showed this year that he can ball and that should be enough to get the team to follow his lead.

Beyond that, I think Cade has developed every year he's been at OU. I just want him to continue to develop as a player and I think he'll be fine. Capel will and probably should put a lot on Cade's plate next season; I hope he's able to take the reins and produce.

Sure there are things he needs to improve on, but i think he has overachieved as a player...

His freshman year a few of us predicted his biggest contributions would come as a Junior and Senior, that has come true as he was a big bright spot last year...

As a solid contributer by his Junior year i didnt think he would be starting and having 20 pt games, i just was looking for him to find his role and contribute...he def played above those expectations...

The only thing that scares me is him having too much of an offensive role, he is a solid shooter, but not a guy i want shooting in volume...37% isnt a terrible percentage from 3, but that is if he is shooting 3/4 3's a game...he will have to take some of that load next year i'm afraid, but hopefully as eluded to by earlier posters he can develop more of a driving game using a shot fake (he had some success with that this year)...

It's very simple. Shoot in the mid 40s. Anything less than 40% is a drag on the team.

This probably means taking it to the hole more and being more selective on the outside shots. He did this on occasion later in the season. As a senior he needs to do it all the time.

Shot selection. That will improve his pct. Continue to improve on his dribble drive. Continue to be the hardest worker on Defense. Become a more vocal leader. Mid range game. Two dribble shoot moves. Buff up because he's probably going to play some PF. Being able to drive both ways.

I think he needs to shoot more inside the arc. His shooting % last year looks so bad because he shot too many 3s.

I think when he takes it to the bucket he looks out of control. He needs to smooth his game out and that includes his hair.
