What will OU's conf. Record be?

Is it really?

KU is down from last year.
OSU is probably about the same.
Baylor appears to be a little better.
ISU is about the same.
KSU is down.
No real changes in WVU, TT, and TCU.
Texas is better, though I'm not sure how much.
OU is probably about the same.

Looks pretty comparable, at this point, IMO.

Team 2013 Kenpom 2014 Kenpom
Kansas 8 8
OSU 22 3
Baylor 29 37
ISU 27 22
KSU 21 86
WVU 125 60
TT 233 121
TCU 264 201
Texas 89 55
OU 49 65

So the Big 12 is better according to Kenpom, but not by a lot, and mostly just at the very bottom, which doesn't help out a bubble team much. Wins over bad teams are valued much higher than wins over terrible teams, and there' a little harder to come by.

However, where the Big 12 has excelled is in the renkings like Sagarin ELO Chess and RPI, which don't try to be predictive and don't use margin of victory. To my knowledge the comittee looks at wins and losses, but not really much at margin. And the Big 12 is killing it in RPI, where it's further ahead of the next best conference (Big 10) than the Big 10 is ahead of the 4th best conference.

I don't think that is the best gauge of things. A lot of factors involved, plus you are comparing 1/3 of a season to a full season.

Just looking team to team, at best I'd say the league is pretty equal to last year. I think it may even be down some.

if we end non con play with the #1 RPI as a league there is very little chance of it changing the rest of the year

I hate Texas. But saying a team that beat UNC at UNC sucks? Too much for me

Agreed. I watched that game. UT does not suck. They're a much improved team over the one I saw three weeks ago. I was really impressed with Jonathan Holmes. He will be a tough match up for us. So will Ridley. At 6' 9" and about 290, he's an intimidating force down low. Their guards (Taylor is one) aren't bad either. The good news is that they have a couple of decent three point shooters, but knocking down shots from behind the arc is definitely not a strength.

As for our conference record, I think 11-7 is about right. A top five conference finish is a guaranteed invite to the dance again. Yes, I'll make that guarantee. I'm not ruling out the possibility that a six place finish will get us in. The Big 12 is a lot better than anyone expected it to be.

Didn't Holmes leave with an injury? The game was on where I was, but there was no sound and I could just watch off and on. Just remember seeing someone leave with an injury, think it was Holmes? Anyone hear what it was or how bad?

Holmes got a bad case of the cramps. He kept coming back, only to go down with the cramps again. That's one of the things I liked about the kid. He's a warrior...a talented one I might add. He can also shoot the three. He'll be a tough match up for someone, likely Clark. Spangler will be busy trying to contain Ridley or one of the other UT bigs.

I'm not saying OU can't beat UT. I think we'll win the game in Norman, although even that may not be easy since it's toward the end of the season and one would think that the Horns will be improved by then. So, will OU for that matter. My biggest concern is the game in Austin just after the first of the year. UT is not going to be a pushover on their home floor. They're are better than a few here made them out to be.

Other than UT you might be right on the rest. However, the Kansas team you see now will not be the same in the middle of conference. Now I believe Baylor will be the same team and OSU won't improve much either, but OSU is already very good.

I think ISU, Texas, OSU, West Virginia, Tech and Baylor are all a little better than they were last year.

Only Kansas and Kansas St are probsbly worse and I don't think Kansas is going to stay down the entire season.

There are very few gimmes in this league so we are going to have to stay healthy to finish over .500 IMO.

Thank you sir. I could see it looked like a leg issue, but like I said I couldn't hear what the issue was. I only saw it the one time too, didn't realize it was a reoccurring thing.
