You haven't seen coaches make a deep tourny run and end up being a bust?
And many more end up being successful. What's your point?

Why do you keep bringing this up? His team is in the Sweet 16. #winning
One could just as easily muse that about Rose. Or Marshall, if he had ever made such a run.You haven't seen coaches make a deep tourny run and end up being a bust?
ONE deep run in the dance does not equal great coach

One could say this is a negative on a resume, if one wanted to break down a resume line by line.Neither of them have coached at a tradition rich school.
Dave Rose has NEVER lost 10 games at BYU (in 6 years)! That's impressive.

Neither of them have coached at a tradition rich school. They do more with less IMO. Rose started winning before he got Jimmer and made it to the sweet 16 this year without a key contributor on his team. BYU could possibly be playing for the title this year if they had all their pieces.
I don't understand. Not saying it is wrong but I need to hear the logic.
The only exposure to Div I basketball for Evans is as an OU player. We all loved him but I would think he should have some Div I experience at least as an assistant in a big program to be ready for OU.
Marquette is in the Sweet Sixteen but they didn't have a great season. They lost all of their key out of conference games to Duke, Georgia, Wisconsin and Vanderbuilt.
Looking at the Marquette site he gets raves as a recruiter, all but three years as an assistant. He has been at Marquette four years, two as an assistant. His current recruiting class consists of 1 4* and 2 3*. Clearly a colorful high energy guy. And I understand the local ties. I'm not sure that counts for a lot at a big program like OU.
Knowing that you were a Capel lover I'm sure you will be critical of whomever we are interested in. The good part is no matter who it is it will be better than Capel.
well, I totally disagree with your statement about Jeff Capel and I am not agreement with the "get Buzz at any cost" group...I am not impressed with him...just because a person is from around this area does not a good coach make.

I was a Sampson supporter.
I had hopes for Capel but was never quite comfortable with him because of the player defections, big beatdowns, and late season collapses. I was usually pretty quiet in the debate except for objecting to the history revisions about Sampson in an attempt to portray him as a bad coach.
My question is that while Buzz has a pretty good resume why is he suddenly head and shoulders above all the other potential candidates. And I don't buy into the "he's from the area and a good fit". OU is in the national picture even with the current state of the team and they don't have to have a person from the area.
I'm not against Buzz. Just wonder why he seems to be the only candidate most are interested in.
