Will Trae Stay or Go?

Bounce ... how much of this do you lay on Lon? If he is handcuffed by promises he made, who is responsible for that?

Him standing under the basket after a miss is one thing that has miffed me throughout the year (10 seconds is obviously hyperbole).

Norman North played in the state finals his junior year. They lost to Tulsa Union.

lol..yeah, def not 10 but he doesn't bust his butt back down the court.

Ah, ok...yeah I don't live there so not sure. I thought they had been...maybe they won it this year? or went further?

i don't hate trae. He is a kid. but i do hate what he has done to this team and program. he seems to think he is bigger than the program. he isn't

he is in for a reality check if this attitude continues into the nba next year.

I will be rooting for him in the NBA...i just don't like this brand of basketball and using OU to get to the nba

What has he done to this program?

And an athlete in one of the major sports is using OU as a springboard to get to the pros. Trae is definitely the first to do that.

They went further this year than last year.

I don't live in OK either, but I do peruse The Oklahoman on a pretty constant basis.

Trae's offensive rating last night was 90 -- his 5th lowest of the season.

Offensive rating is a points produced per possession stat, which is a function of his teammates disastrous performance.

This!! TY should have had about 12 more asssists if the players around him could do Anything - he set them up for success time and time again with them consistently screwing up and missing shots. Not his fault.

In all reality, Trae is bigger than the program. I went to the game last night, and there were so many fans from schools not named OU/OSU or Iowa St/Texas that just came to see Trae play. There was a solid group of students from UMKC that bought tickets just to see Trae play.

Trae's brand of basketball is suited for the NBA. His skill level and IQ is just so far ahead of anyone else on the team.

I am so sick of this narrative.
Lets look at FACTS

FG%/3pt%
Trae Young: 42% / 36%
James: 46% / 37%
Brady: 48% / 39%
McGusty: 42% / 35%
Odomes: 52% / 47%
Lattin: 60%
McNease: 67%
Doolittle: 36% / 50%

So by my count, EVERYONE that gets meaningful minutes except for Doolittle had a better or equal FG% than the great trae young. And McGusty was the only player that had a worse 3 pt percentage and it was only by 1% point.

So lets stop with this narrative that Trae is just so much better than his teammates and that they never finish.

All your “stats” lie lol. I, and anyone with a set of eyes who watched the game, saw time after time after time where TY made beautiful passes to wide open players for either 3’s or Easy layups or close shots on the basket AND the players missed or fumbled the ball away or couldn’t finish. You can put all the dumb stats down you want BUT if you watched the game and are truthful you saw what all of us did and Trae set up all his teammates for success and they choked it off. FACT!!

And, none of the other Sooner players were focused on and double and sometime triple teamed. FACT!

These stats don't lie.

If you are going to criticize players for not finishing and turning the ball over, you need to realize that trae didn't finish and turned it over more than all his teammates.

You can't complain about james and brady missing open looks when trae is missing at a higher clip and is taking just terrible shots.

Thats just an excuse. and an exaggeration.
Yes trae draws more attention than everyone else.

Thank God Trae took all those shots because the other options were terrible. Yes your stats DO lie. I work in an industry where we look at studies all the time. The studies can be made to look any way you want them to until you dissect the study and realize the flaws. Your “stats” are just like that.

USE YOUR EYES DUDE!!!!! You are ignoring what we all saw. You can keep stating these conjured up stats all you want but True fans saw the truth and thank God Trae shot that many times because the alternative of throwing it to useless teammates was much worse.

wow is all i can say. wow

I hate to bust some bubbles but Trae is not the second coming and yes he is as much of the problem as his teammates. There is enough blame to go around two or three times, it takes a team to win in a team sport and this team is not a team.

wow is all i can say. wow

Same to you except WOW lol. Ive only been on this board for a short time but seems like some of the people who have tons of time to sit around and post big numbers think their opinion matters more - here’s a reality check, it doesn’t lol
