Wille Warren to the clippers...

Being drafted by the Clippers may prove to be the best thing that could have happened to Willie. He'll have some work to do to make the team. But I like his chances with Blake around to serve as a motivator. I'm betting an extra special cheer went up at WW's watch party when he learned that he would be playing with his double-double again.

Do you think Blake had some say into the decision making of drafting Willie???

I rarely post but follow this board quite a bit. I am startin to feel like a clippers fan. I have always liked Willie Warren and still wish things had went better. I cant argue with the criticism he receives but I believe he is NBA caliber. Also, reuniting with Blake can not hurt.

Im sure part of the reason why the Clips took Willie was because of Blake endorsing him.

No offense to Blake but I really do not hope so, just doesn't seem like good management for a team to let a player who hasn't played a game yet be making personal calls. Wouldn't be surprised if he said some good things about Willie if asked about it but I really doubt he had a say in actually making the pick.

I also don't think Willie is a lock, he has a good chance but he isn't a lock.

I agree with every word of this..........

Agree as they also drafted Bledsoe from Kentucky. Hope Blake didn't stick his neck out for Willie because Willie is a big risk.

A guy with zero NBA points/rebounds is not making personnel decisions for an NBA team. Willie dropped that far because of attitude and possibly injury concerns, but the body/skillset of the first round player they predicted last year is still there. He got picked up because the Clips didn't need a big man as bad as the few teams that picked before them.

I hope it works out for him. Blake should help him out. Out of the guys that left this year, he's got a better chance of any of them to be playing for money any time soon.

He's far from a lock to make the Clippers active roster. With the way last year went I don't see how he could be a lock to make any team let alone the Clippers who have some pretty good backcourt guys. Baron Davis and Steve Blake are too good veteran PG's. Eric Gordon is developing into a stud and is a lot like Willie in that he's a 1/2 combo about 6'3. Gordon isn't going anywhere. They got Eric Bledsoe who obviously is going to be on the team before WW. So basically the Clippers have 3 PG's who are definitely on the team before WW. Then at the 2 they have Eric Gordon and Rasual Butler who started most of the year and was a double digit scorer. Then throw in Aminu who they drafted at the 3 in this draft and there is another guy that takes a roster spot. I think it will be touch for WW to make the roster. He may be a practice squad guy which would probably be the best thing for him to get a year under his belt.

No actual say in the pick...but i wouldnt doubt WW needed an endorsement from Blake for them to make a pick...

Blake may not have played a game yet, but it is clear he is a franchise player for them and will have input on this type of stuff...more in the future, but in this case it is an obvious question to ask the big guy...

No second rounders are locks...PERIOD!

I think this is the best case scenario for WW because there is a comfort level for him playing with Blake...plus LA is another team that is dumping salary for the Free Agent Sweepstakes, that means guys like WW that you can get for $650k are nice...

My prediction is that he makes the team but spends time during the season in the NBDL ala Taylor Griffin...

Blake's assurance to management that he had played with Willie and believed he could again may have got Willie the nod. It is almost for certain that if Blake had said that Willie was a jerk, they would not have taken him.

I hope he makes the team, but Clippers also have Baron Davis, Rasual Butler, Eric Bledsoe, and Eric Gordon. Are they going to have room for Willie?

Blake Griffin doesn't make the decisions, but with WW he was tapped for information on WW.

You don't think the Clippers would ask Blake Griffin of Willie Warren's chemistry with him and the Clippers as a potential teammate?

You don't think the Clippers would ask Blake Griffin if Willie Warren fell late to them as a possibility, what value he would bring to the Clippers.

Blake Griffin was involved with Willie Warren.

Which is why I said this in my original post.

Did you actually read all my post? Or did you just see the first line, decided I had a different viewpoint than yours and feel the need to respond?

With all of the question marks and rumors concerning WW's personality, there is no way that the Clips didn't talk to Blake about him to find out what the real story is.

So many people want to brand Willie as a cancer, or an attitude problem, but I really believe he is largely misunderstood. I bet Blake believes this also and knows that if WW is in the right place, he can be a dynamic addition to a team.

He's a Sooner and I hope he makes the team and makes an impact. The Clippers are rapidly becoming my second favorite NBA team.

No, I'm someone who actually knows and has talked to people who have worked and played with WW, as opposed to someone who thinks you can learn everything you need to know by reading web sites and message boards.

I dont have any problems with WW going to the Clips or Blake vouching for him. If Blake's comfortable with him it might make the year better for both of them. They might do well together again.
