Woodard injury - anybody know?

Just read on another board that it could be depression. I don't like rumors, but it would certainly explain the silence/lack of information surrounding his absence and the "no timetable for return" explanation.

And clinical depression is a very serious health issue....and if this is indeed the case, he should take all the time he needs and get well before he comes back.
Spot on accurate. Clinical depression is a VERY serious health issue. Anyone who has been there can tell you. It can be life threatening. It requires medication and serious help. For people who have never had it, they just don't get it. Big time prayers for Jordan if that is truly the issue.

I wonder if the groin was ever really a thing. Odd timing in hindsight.

he has put in a ton of work to get to this point in his career. Tough season, graduating soon, and his future probably isn't basketball unless its in Europe.

praying for the kid

Absolutely right. Great post!

I would hope that those who are posting anonymously on message boards that it "may be depression" have some facts to support them. It also "may be" any other health problem. But sooner's comments above about depression are absolutely spot on. If that's what it is, it's potentially very serious and MUCH more important than basketball.

Anyone that pokes fun at depression is a moron.

It is a demoralizing disease.

It isn't a concussion. We aren't going to hear what it is ever. Hopefully he will be able to play again this year but I don't think anybody knows one way or the other.

Saw John Shinn on twitter state: "It's not an injury. OU has described as an illness. I asked Kruger if he had any sort of timetable for a return and he did not."

Personally when I read that it seems he might be out for awhile, but that is just my opinion after reading that tweet.

That's good enough for me. I hope everyone here will stop speculating what it could be and wish a great young man a speedy recovery.

My prayers will be with you, Jordan!

Wow, this is terrible for him. Prayers for Jordan! Speedy recovery..

I don't mean this to be silly but after the wonderful season the team had last year and being able to play with the other 3 seniors, this years team must be quite a let down.... I wish Jordan nothing but the best and hope he gets better ASAP....

To me, and this is totally just my opinion, it appears that woodard does not give a crap about playing anymore. It almost seems like he wanted to quit and his injury was the coaches talking him back into finishing the season. He was rejuvenated for a couple games but now just doesn't see the point. He knows he doesn't have a future in professional bball and just wants to be done. His body language is terrible. His hustle is bad. Look at his stats over the last 5 games:

6 ppg
1 apg
2 topg
2 rpg
<1 spg
21% fg
19% 3pt

This from a senior guard that was supposed to be the best player and leader. Either he has a riff with a coach/player or just doesn't care anymore. He was playing pretty well before his injury...so I guess he could still be having lingering effects from that but he just seems off

I say bench odomes, start Shepard, move Woodard to the 2...for the rest of the year.

Odomes brings a lot more than Shepherd. Size, athleticism, defense rebounding. He's 3rd in scoring, 4th in rebounding, 2nd in assists, our best defender, & shoots 48% from the floor.

but compare woodard to playing the 1 vs 2 and the benefit you could get there.

it isn't an easy choice. but i'm all for giving younger players a shot this year and trying something new.

I don't think you can take mcgusty out of the starting lineup so the only option is odomes

Woodard could be the option to take out.

maybe. but I would think you would move him to the two first to see if that helps things. B/c i highly doubt a lineup of Shepard, odomes, mcgusty, doolittle, lattin is going to produce very good results

LK can play Woodard and Shepherd together at times, frankly I'd rather see Shepherd than James at this point.
