Worst Coach in the Big XII?

Replaced a guy that was destroying the OSU program (multiple years of no road wins and losing Big XII records) and taken it to the NCAA Tournament in two seasons. Capel took a team that had been to 25 straight NCAA/NIT Tournaments and missed the Tournament.

How in the heck was that Capel's fault? I guess you blame him for Reynolds and James, two all-conference if not all-american caliber players at times, abandoning their letter of intent?


That is absolutely ridiculous. Capel, IMO, did a tremendous job with the roster he had his first year here. He did his best at keeping those two guys, and they ditched him and OU.

Tremendous job? Don't know about that. That team could of made an NIT but fell apart during the conference slate...tremendous would have been making the NCAAs.

Capel will take OU to the NCAA tourney one time. He lost 12 of the last 14 games last year and has lost 4 straight. I would guess that is the worst finish to last year and the worst start for 2010 among the 12.

I wish coach Capel well but I won't support him being OU's coach any longer.
I want to be a top 4 big 12 team most years, this is Capel's worst team and the worst team in the 12.

If we finish this year how we finished last year I prompt everyone to write Joe C and give him your thoughts good or bad.

Quite honestly, to the people on this board that post nonstop vitriol and hate for Capel and this team, in every way their bird-brained intellect can reword it, you are the most annoying people I've ever encountered. I truly pity the people in your lives that have to deal with you on a daily basis. I won't tell you to stop whining, because you can't, but I will let you know that you suck as people.

There are 20 freaking threads on the first 2 pages with the theme "Capel sucks" worded one way or another. We don't need another new thread about it on a non-game day when nothing new even happened. No one will agree with you all of a sudden because you continually beat them over the head with the same refrain, they'll just learn to ignore you.

Thanks for those observations. I've been saying the same thing (though not nearly as well). I keep getting flamed for my comments and I suspect you will too.

Oh, and just in case anybody hasn't heard, Capel is 8-20 in his last 28 games. :ez-laugh:

The problem with capel is that he lost 3 guys to the draft who left way too soon. They may have struggled last year but I would bet almost anything that If our roster consisted of TMG, Warren, Davis, Fitzgerald, Gallon, Pledger, Clark, Taylor, and a few other players currently on our roster not only would we be good but we would be one of the top 10 teams in the league right now. And everyone would be saying how he's a great coach...and etc... but noo...those kids said they didn't want to play college ball anymore and their went this season. I think we will be back next season.

It is not Jeff Capel's fault that his team did not make the post season? Whose fault is it? Your refusal to acknowledge reality is the problem. I don't hate Capel and I love OU basketball. However, the guy has not done a good job. He has a losing conference recrod and he will be way below .500 after this year unless something miraculous happens.

Ford has only been at oSu for two years and made the tournament both years.

Capel will have 3 of the worst seasons in OU basketball history in just a 5 year span

He did go to the elite 8 though with the best college basketball player in the last 20 years

We'll see what ford can do with similar type talent next year with nash and karron
