From what I've gathered it's PG only unless Bolden or other top 100 type recruit... This has been stated in a few df places but I wanted to post it one thread.(Traveler)

Payton Pritchard- I think this ship has sailed, could be wrong just a overwhelming impression I get.

DeJon Jarreau (LaDeeky) and Brison Gresham- both are locked to LSU but they're visiting so the staff feels their is a chance. We'd take Gresham obviously but Jarreau is the main target.

Donovan Jackson- JUCO. He wants to play PG from day 1. OU needs him as a 1-2 backup for 1 year and then full time PG for his senior year. Or I think he'd already be on board.

I could be dead wrong but these are consensus to the folks I've spoke to outside this board.

Others may have more to add.

This is the route I thought we'd have to go if Pritchard did indeed bail. I really think it's vital that we get someone in to bridge Woodard and our next HS PG...

Thanks for the update - I'm still holding out hope for Pritchard. He mentioned us first in the last article I saw on him. He's going to visit soon...I think for a football weekend. We'll definitely know where we stand after the visit.

I agree 100%. If we don't get Pritchard, I don't think we will get a top-tier HS PG in the 2016 class. Juco seems to be the best way to go and then target a 2017 PG who can start from day 1 after Woodard graduates.

If we get a 2017 pg that can start from day 1 why do we need a JUCO pg? Unless he's just to be a backup both years. If that's the case I doubt we get a very good JUCO because McGusty will probably take away his backup minutes at pg the following year.

You are assuming we get a 2017 PG who can start from day 1. If you get a quality JC you can roll with as a back-up to Woodard in 2016-17, then you are guaranteed a quality starter at least for 2017-18 in case recruiting doesn't go our way. We might get that 4 yr starter and this JC is a back-up for 2 seasons; Insurance policy. If we don't get a JC PG this cycle, then we may be looking at grad transfers in the next and that isn't something I would like to have to rely on.

I realize it's hard to get a day 1 starter at pg. I quoted someone who said they wanted a JUCO for 2016 to backup and then get a day 1 starter for 2017. So my question was if we get a 2017 day 1 starter then what's the use for a juco pg unless it's just a safety net.

I see your logic. And agree. If we don't get a top caliber pg in 16 or 17... Juco transfer sr probably starts over whomever. Assuming the juco pg is a top notch pg.

Going without a true backup PG is risky. If mcgusty can handle those duties then you are 100% correct. If he is shaky then taking a juco pg is worth the scholly for 2 years.

First, we won't get a commitment from a 2017 player for another year, and as PP showed us, an early commitment isn't any guarantee. A bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush, so we have to sign a PG in this class. We have to get someone to backup Woodard in 2016-2017 that can possibly start the next year. Then if we get a good 2017 PG, all the new guy has to do is beat out the previous year's backup. It's not as daunting of a task as beating out a 3-year senior starter (Woodard). That won't scare off any 2017 player. JMHO.

I'm sure Kruger and staff are working on 2016 PG's that none of us know about..... both HS and Juco. Maybe some kid will blow up next season that is currently flying under the radar, and we discover him after the November signing period.

Isn't that the truth. Doolittle mcgusty and freeman to an extent.

Theory upheld. Lindy waters eliminated OU. Or OU eliminated him... Butler, OSU, Harvard, and Houston are his final 4

I look at it this way...
We bring a JC PG to back up Woodard in 2016-17 and possible start in 2017-18.
We go after a 2017 HS PG to potentially come in and compete for the starting job with the JC (now a SR) for the 2017-18 season. Does that make sense?

Yeah it makes sense, probably the best way to go about it. The 2016 pg class is so deep I'm still holding out we get lucky with someone in that class.

That would be ideal. This is a really good system for a PG, whether he be a 'true' PG or more of a scoring PG. There are a good number of possessions, pushing pace is an emphasis, and the looks are there to get teammates their shots or find your own.

Jarreau, Gresham and Bolden are the only ones that OU is actively recruiting for 2016.
Waters' ship sailed when McGusty committed, Hobbs doesn't like the competition at OU
and the juco point guard does not want to share a job for one year so they have parted
ways. Sure they would take Pritchard but who knows where that is going. He says he
wants to visit again but in all honesty, what for? Jarreau and Gresham are not locks to
LSU at this time but if LSU was to put on the full court press they probably would be. That
has not happened at this time. The lucky thing with Bolden is that his parents are
middle class as a family and don't seem to be able to be bought. The only visit he has
set up is to Duke(official visit).

Thanks as always.

Thanks for the update, ouleopard! Your input is always appreciated.

Bolden is obviously the biggest target on OU's wish list right now. He would be a huge get if our coaches can pull it off.

My thoughts about Pritchard have not changed since he committed to OU last year. He's my first choice as the point guard I want to run our offense the next four years, starting in 2016. Having said that, though, if Jarreau and Gresham want to be Sooners, I would take them in a heart beat. They're too good to pass up while we wait on a decision that may not be in our favor.

Coffeyville CC PG Darrion Strong visits September 5th (Akron FB game).

LaDeeky visits October 3rd (WVU FB game).
