I don't think you mean to imply otherwise, but Reaves will be far more than a shooter, and definitely won't be a bench piece. He shoots it as well as any of the stereotypical sharpshooters, but his game is far more well rounded than guys who just fill that role.

Thanks for pointing that out. To set the record straight, I expect Reaves to be a complete player on both sides of the ball. It’s clear that posters who have seen him play in practice and those, like yourself, who are familiar with his game were not describing a player who is limited to shooting from the perimeter. Some have even said he may be the best player on the team.

I see Reave’s reputation as a three point shooter as a bonus. He’s much more than a one trick pony.

Unfortunately, white guards usually get the stigma of being good shooters with average (at best) athleticism, and cant play defense. It always will be that way until the player shows it on the court.

Has anything happened recently wrt Phipps showing he can play at the P5 level, ie summer tournaments? Any new developments? Do you expect him to get other P5 offers?

Yeah. Avg 18-20 at UA summer. Shot 43-45% from deep. 6’1. Not 5’9.

100% agree, but I have seen him play probably 10 times and I think he will have a tough adjustment to playing defense and being an above-average athlete at the D1 level. I have said, and continue to say, I like his game, but I think he will be less versatile than other guards OU is recruiting.

To CoachTalk's point, dropping 40 in a state final's game shows you the kid has stones and is willing to shot the ball. I love that. But my assessment of his overall game stands.

All that being said, if he wants to be a Sooner, let's sign him up!
