Color me not swayed at all by plus/minus stats. I followed the thread all of last year and to me, I think they are just about worthless. It's largely luck and just about when you are subbed in or not imo. Am I totally off base?

For 1 game it can be skewed, but for multiple games in a row or a season I think it's an important stat.

You have to factor in how many minutes a kid gets and what is the team's average +-/game

I'll be honest....as a coach I've never used +/- extensively but I do think it holds value. Easy to see who is producing at a solid clip nightly and who is consistent.

I have a buddy who has won a couple of state titles who is a big time numbers person....he swears by +/- stuff.

I’ve used it more with lineups than just 1 person. But sometimes 1 persons +- is so different from the teams that you have to take notice.

i wish i had access to 2 man 3 man 4 man and 5 man +/- groups .. if anyone know where that is available let me know

You can sign up for a free version of CBBanalytics.com. It’s a great resource that I look at quite frequently, especially for advanced analytics. They do have advanced analytics for 2-5 man lineups as well

4-man lineup (min. 12 minutes): Elvis, Miles, Fears, Moore (+58.5 net rating on 12 minutes played)

3-man lineup (min. 20 minutes): Elvis, Miles, Moore (+50.0 net rating on 30 minutes played)

2-man lineup (min. 30 minutes): Elvis, Fears (+59.0 net rating on 33 minutes played)

Call me crazy but I think I saw a little more passion and defensive pressure so far than in players in seasons prior. Maybe this team will surprise us. It can't get a whole lot worse towards the end of the season then it has the last three before this one.
