I'm guessing UT's Brown is taking this one-point loss pretty hard.

It took me a second to figure out why you singled out Brown. That was an unfortunate tip in on Browns part, but happens. I am sure he is sick about it.

Tough crowd by the usuals .... and we beat a top 5 on the road.

Yep, the mob was in fine form last night.
Every team in America would take Austin reaves on their team. Majority would put him in the starting lineup.
Reaves did make some stupid decisions at the end, but you cannot overlook his overall game and the way he played last night. He's so confident with his handles, he rebounds, and when he has his mid range and long range going he can be very good and very hard to contain. His clutch FT shooting was also really needed at the end..
I think what the transfers have brought to the team cannot be overstated. Both of them. Both are extremely tough and are dogs. Harkless' rebounding, defense, and overall physicality and dirty work. He also finds shots. Gibson and his outside shot and on the ball defense. Both get steals. I love the way the offense(besides a few situations) has flowed in the half court with both those guys. They know how to play and can get downhill.
So enjoyable to watch right now. Give Lon credit for finding these guys and plugging them in. Hill with the contributions in various ways(the threes wow) and Vic with some blocks and good rebounds early. Man I so wish Vic could make another leap(no pun intended). Kur has improved but is still kind of up and down.
I keep thinking(worrying) that if a couple of our guys are off we will stall. It may happen in the future, but I love the way they seem to pick each other up in some of these games. Keep playing tough defense, and keep it going... Getting close to the way OU baskeball should consistently be played! Effort, toughness, and physicality!
I agree, the transfers have been great and have added everything the team needs. Good post.
So... did the page server die last night for a bit? This has happened twice... weird
Sometimes I can't get it to pull up on my iPhone when I'm on 5G. All other times I have no problems.
Thanks.
Now, if we can just get Vic going. I love it when he comes in and gets rebounds and is so active. Hill also. I like what Hill brings many nights, tough rebounding and good defense. I wish he'd look to score more. He showed a flash last night. I still don't think those two are where they could be, relative to their recruiting profiles. But, i'll concede that COVID has held a number of guys back. I hope guys like the two transfers, Hill, and Vic use their do over year. For the latter two for development's sake.
I think Jalen Hill is exactly where he's supposed to be. He guards all 5 positions, doesn't turn the ball over, rebounds well at multiple positions, takes advantage of opportunities when he gets them (shooting 54% and 45% from three) ... inbounding the ball in crunch time will tell you everything you need to know about what Lon thinks about him. Plays like a senior as a sophomore. He'll improve offensively. We've seen flashes. I expect a Kristian Doolittle type expansion of his offensive game.
He's a solid building block of a very good program and is progressing nicely. Vic has had trouble. The late start got him, but he's also still playing too sped up. He's a little like Diallo for the Thunder. His athleticism can control him at times instead of vice versa, and he gets out of control. Still not sure what he'll become, but he's got potential.
Agree with all this. Like you said if Hill could expand his offense a little, look out. The thing is, I think he can. He just needs to look to. Last night was a start. Maybe pump fake and take it to the rack/midrange jumper a little more maybe like the transfers do. Love when they create shots like that..
Fantastic win. Take the last six minutes of footage and send it to the bottom of the ocean with Victor Vescovo. But take the win!
God, that closing stretch was awful.
