4 more wins and OU is Dancing

Very low odds at Baylor, ISU, and KSU. I think we have a moderate to good chance in the other 5 but it depends on whether we have won enough prior games to keep the team hungry. Some think we need to win 4 of those and some think all 5. I agree all 5 is a lock. I think we have a small chance if we win 4 but definitely not a lock and I would bet out.

I personally think we will win 3 more at most so it won’t matter. I hope it is more than that but one game at a time and let’s see what happens.

I hate being negative about OU basketball, so it pains me to say this but I see no way we make it in. I mean, if we win 5 or 6 more games, maybe a case can be made but I've seen nothing the past 3 weeks that makes me think we can win that many games. I hope I'm wrong, believe me, I would love it if I have to eat these words.

Last year, OU went 8-10 in conference, had wins over three teams that got top 4 seeds in the tourney (Wichita St., Tech, and 1 seed Kansas). They also racked up several Big XII wins against eventual tourney teams. We got in as a 10 seed, meaning we were one of the last 5-8 teams in the field.

This year's team hasn't beaten a single team that is likely to make the tournament. The Big XII is worse than it was last year. 4 wins would give this team a 7-11 conference record.

So with a significantly worse resume than than last year, this team would be a lock to get into the tournament?

THIS. I can't emphasize it enough.

In addition to having a significantly worse resume we don't have a lottery pick that people want to watch.

TCU is quite likely a tourney team and we beat them. If we win four more games, that will mean a minimum of three more wins against the field, and some could be against teams who will get high seeds, if we beat KU or Tech. Florida could play their way into the tournament. Ditto for Wofford. And I am pretty sure our strength of schedule this year is as good or better than last season. Not sure how that equates to worse, let alone significantly worse.

I love the fact that it seems that this point in our season we start to argue if we deserve a bid to the tourney.

Is that good enough for the Sooners?

My vote is it will be a long shot for us to accomplish what it would take to sneak in.

There are 6 more chances for quality wins and only 1 chance for a bad loss (WVU). Texas wouldn't really count as either.

So if you grant OU four more wins, you're assuming at least two wins better than any so far this season. That's not impossible - this team has been close multiple times - but that's a big assumption.

But if OU were to pull that off? That's easily a tournament resume. 19-12 with a very strong schedule, no Q3 losses or Q4 games, and 5 Q1 wins. That's as good as last year's or better... which is to say not great, but not the last team in.

Anyone who wants a piece of this action please reply. Maximum of ten dollars per bet:

If we go 7-11 in the league and lose our first game in Kansas City we will NOT make the NCAA Tournament.

ACCEPTED (We Get In):
BCSooners

I'll bet $10 against you removing that picture of Letterman.

It’s debatable if 7-11 gets OU into the tourney. Unfortunately, I just don’t think they will win 4 more games. I’d bet they only win 2 more games this regular season, if any.

Season has gone into the crapper.

Sucks that OU lost, but at least I’ll get $10.

Interesting 5-week old thread. Even with the loss to last place WVU, the Sooners (19-13) remain locked into #40 in the NET rankings.

A 20-win season would be very nice at this point.
