coach, I'm all for hiring Evans.

Say, Kruger, Tubby or someone like that...

I think I'd rather have Evans than the dude at St. Mary's or whatever other mid-majors that have been discussed.

I just don't know if he's prepared to go head-to-head with Gillispie, Self, Turgeon, Martin, Barnes, and Painter every night and win more than he loses or even break even.

At this point, we have to get Kruger or Stallings and call it a day.

Just so I am clear, I was all for Evans a month ago before I knew Tech was hiring BCG and Mizzou was getting Painter. Now I don't think he's ready to face the coaches in this league.

I just think the pool of guys willing to take the job are a little (maybe only a little) risky. If we're going risky, I'd be all for taking that risk on Evans.

One question I'd like answered in regards to Evans.

Does anyone know what kind of staff he COULD put together? I'd think he'd need one "old-timer" to help him out with getting established.

I agree with this, but I think you (like me) would take Evans over some of the obscure names from Gotlieb's list. Right?

Over Gottlieb's list?

Yes, I would take Evans over every one of those slugs. Scott Sutton? WTF

I am talking to some people close to the situation tonight about Terry and see what I can hear. I will tell you guys all I can.

I want Terry more than anyone.

IMHO, college basketball is 80% recruiting. If T. E. can get great players he can go head-to-head with anyone. Do you think Brad Stevens could win with Calipari's players? I do.

Great!

I think even Terry knows he's lacking that extra bit of experience to justify this hire, but if he has that "ace in the hole" of an old-timer assistant, I think THAT could overcome it...

Are you saying Terry Evans is as good a coach at Brad Stephens?

I wouldn't mind Evans. But I think we need an older coach right now to clean things up. Not sure if hiring a young coach that's never been at this level is a good thing with what we have to clean up.

Why not bring in Kruger, then add Terry Evans as an asst. Kruger likely won't coach that much longer- 5 years at most I'd bet- so he can groom Terry. Don't name him as HCIW, but make him prove he's up to the job. If he is, OU has a coach for the next 15-20 years after Kruger steps down. If not, OU can find someone else. Seems like a fair compromise for everyone arguing over experience vs. loyalty.

We have to get Stallings or Kruger at this point otherwise this is going to be an epic fail.

Evans is better than this actor I hope... Or were you referring to Brad Stevens?

...and I'm just gonna guess and add..."ghey"...

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Terry Evans: Head Coach
Bob Hoffman: Assistant Coach
Tommy Griffin: Assistant Coach

3 guys with head coaching experience, all Oklahomans, all winners.

Hey if we can't get an established mens coach, might as well get an established womens coach
