Austin Grandstaff

I'm not so sure about that. Hale doesn't usually stick his neck out that far on a prediction unless he's reasonably sure of himself. I'm inclined to believe he knows something he is not sharing right now.

Then again, I have been wrong before, and so has JH.

maybe he has gotten better but man he used to be terrible at predictions and sticking his neck out

No it isn't. OU, Texas, Tech, and A&M all have larger fans bases in Dallas.

You obviously haven't been to Dallas the past couple of years as there are billboards and yard signs that look like this (see below), except minus the "Beat the TCU". My post was a joke for those that live in Dallas or come to Dallas often enough to see them.

IS the white rectangle like a white board where they can change what is in the box? lol

After paying for OUinsider, I have come to believe James Hale is a complete moron. He is a terrible writer and doesn't even remotely make an effort to proof read. I have mentioned it a couple of times. His responses are unbelievable. He doesn't even proof read a response to a complaint about lack of proof reading. I should have printed and handed it to employees as an example of how not to write.

Lol

Yes, there are also signs that say "SMU is My team" and I've seen a couple of them in people's yards that were blank and a few where the homeowner wrote in something, typically "My team"

His record on "crystal ball prediction" for football was pretty terrible compared to other beat writers.

I dont see him committing. He's getting a lot of pub from taking rockwell from zero to hero... Being close to home is a great factor working in OU's favor. Still going to be tough to get.
We have a good shot though..

Hey, the fact that any "recruiting guru" is predicting that OU might get this player in the future is not a bad thing. It probably indicates that OU is at least in the running. If anything, it is good news. You just cannot take it to the bank.

Maybe. We're all really just guessing though.

The flip side of your argument could be this:

Why is he visiting again, now, when he's has already been here, and he could wait a short bit and his season would be over? That, and I think I remember him liking OU, our team, and our staff pretty well before he committed to osu. Maybe OU has always been his #2, and so long as the visit goes well, he plans to commit?

Just a theory.

Maybe just a theory, but a sound one, I'd say. Why would the kid be taking another visit if his interest level wasn't high? I think you might be on to something, WT. I'm feeling pretty good about our Lon's chances of signing this kid.

Im just guessing... I hope you're right! He did really like OU. I wish he would committ and sign saturday.
He's a texas kid, I dont want them to have all summer knocking down his door.

Yep. Me too! Doesn't mean he will, but I believe there are signs that we can be optimistic.

Like I said earlier, Hale is wrong sometimes. But he doesn't like to be "100%" wrong, when he could have easily said there is a 90% chance, which would give him an out to say later that he knew all along there was a small chance Grandstaff would pick another school.

From my time on OUInsider I thought that Hale had some inside stuff on football but very little on either basketball team. Stoops seemed to like him.

I left OUInsider before the Kruger era so I have no sense of Hale's relationship to the new basketball regime. I left them because of the idiot fans who made the board a funeral dirge every time we didn't hang a half a hundred on the opposing team. I kind of liked Hale in spite of his thin skin. I found his close to the deadline info better than his early thoughts.

Also I am more interested in the content of a piece than the grammer and punctuation so Hale didn't bother me there. I do take some of his stuff with a grain of salt as he is absolutely a 100% homer. And why shouldn't he be.

I take what James says with a grain of salt. He has little credibility with me. At least he is just a homer. Robert Allen is a bold faced liar.

Getting this kid at all would be great, but getting him early would be huge. He would bring interest from other prospects, especially Thomas, and having him in the fold plus OU having a good chance to be ranked top 20 all year with everyone returning the next year. I know people are wondering whether Thomas would come or not because he might not start, but I think that's insane. Seeing how talented this guy is as a junior I think he easily slides in beside Spangler unless Buford or Lattin are much better than expected next year.

Now your post makes sense to me. Humor is easily missed on the internet.

I also live in East Dallas by White Rock Lake and have to drive by SMU to get to work so I see the billboards and yard signs every day. They make me chuckle.

On that 247 site the guy who usually gets them right, Jerry Meyer, is picking him to Florida. And, it says he's visiting Florida next week.
