Im going with Colorado...

Two NBA draft picks, one possibly in the lottery. The point guard is supposed to be the real deal, but we will see. He was going to be the starter last year but got hurt. I know Bzdelik was really excited about him.

Cory Higgins (6'5'' 190): 18.9 points per game average (highest over three years) • Ranked fourth in Big 12 Conference scoring (all games) and third overall in conference-only games (19.4 ppg.).. Two-time All-Big 12 third team selection (2009-10 and 2008-09) • Big 12-only leader in steals two-straight conference seasons (junior, sophomore) with a 2.1 spg.

Alec Burks (6'6'' 190): Second in team scoring (17.1 ppg.) and field goals made (172); first in rebounding (5.0 rpg.) and FG% (.538); fourth in assists (53); tied for second in steals (35)...Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year..Big 12 All-Rookie Team; All-Big 12 Honorable Mention; 2009-10 Basketball Times' All-Freshman First Team; 2009-10 CollegeInsider.com All-America Freshman Team; 2009-2010 Big 12 specialty teams (Kansas City Star) All-Freshman Team; 2009-10 Sporting News Magazine All-Freshman Second Team.

Shannon Sharpe (6'1'' 200): As a senior in 2007-08, averaged 17.9 ppg., 7.9 rpg., 7.7 apg., 3.2 spg. • Helped the Huskies to a 27-5 record during his senior season.

Imagine that

I'll go with Blair, Davis and Cam...espescially with the depth added by Newell, Pledger and Taylor. Colorado doesn't have that kind of depth.

Hey abd, don't you think its a problem if your leading rebounder is a gaurd and he averages 5 a game? that means your posts cant even get 5 boards a game.

Ya, I mentioned in another thread that they can't rebound to save their lives.

That has nothing to do with this thread though.

But it does, if you don't rebound, you don't win games, if you don't win games, you aren't the bast back court. They go hand in hand

Higgins > Davis
Burks = Cam [no D-1 Experience, but more talent]
Sharpe [no D-1 Experience]< Blair
OU's depth on the bench breaks the tie IMHO.

Maybe you should change the thread title to "Most Skilled Backcourt" to avoid confusion.

Amen

Its a novel concept...OU fans making OU slanted posts on an OU board. God bless America! :blair:

FTR, I think Colorado probably does have the "best backcourt". I have no idea what sharpe is going to be like, but Burks and Higgins are legit and studly.

I think Burks and Higgins are solid players as well, but Newell was just as accomplished in high school (if not more) and Blair actually has D-1 minutes.
Now, if you want to take abd's position and say that HS stats and accolades mean something, then I think that Cam's high school career and talent level should equal out Burks D-1 experience so I 'll say they are even.

I'll definitely give Higgins the edge over Cade Davis, but I don't believe that it is a massive mismatch. I'm willing to lock in Cade as adding 4-5 pts. and a rebound per game to his stat sheet and that would put him at 15-5, not Higgins numbers, but close. Where I think CU starts to lose ground is bench, so I think that OU is arguably just as good if not potentially better than the "best" back court in the league according to abd.

Might of helped if he called it "best starting backcourt in the league...who ya got?" because I too have depth questions regarding the Buffs. If Walton is as good as I have been hearing then Baylor may need to be in the equation. Kansas is never a bad pick with their depth (hopefully Selby won't make it).

Are you out of your mind? Cory Higgins has been an all-league performer for 3 years, and is better in every way imaginable than Cade Davis, lol. Come on, I know Cade is a likeable guy but thats just a ridiculous comment.

Higgins is a 20ppg guy and his percentages are ridiculous. Leads Big 12 in steals, shoots 50% from the field, 36% from deep, 83% from the line.

You just can't compare a guy like Higgins and a guy like Davis. In fact, Cade had 8 points in 39 minutes against CU last year and Higgins had 18 points in 33 minutes.

The guy averaged 17 points and 5 rebounds per game in high-level D1 basketball. He was the 2nd best freshman in the country behind John Wall. You dont say that someone who has no experience is better than a guy like that.

Hopefully Cam has a season like Burks, and I actually think they can be similar players with Cam being a better shooter, which would be great. Should be a great matchup this year.

I'm willing to lock in Cade as adding 4-5 pts.

Cade isnt going to average 13-15 a game. He isnt good enough. Sorry, he just isnt.

It was probably just the system. Higgins is def a system SG. That boring, redonkulous offense that Jeff Bzlkdjflkdjf ran is the only reason Higgins put up numbers!

I tried.

I am serious about that small sum money payment plan for you pimping us on other boards, abd. I want to see OU propaganda on boards such as CycloneFanatic.com, GoEmaw.com, Texags.com, and the every popular Baylorfans.com. Just take some screen shots of your dirty work and I will send the dough.

If it is best starting back court then I think it is probably CU; although I'd have a hard time giving that title to a team with a freshman point guard likely being the starter. As Burks and Higgins have both shown, a freshman can come in and stand out on the wing, but it is rare for a freshman, even a talented one, to stand out as the "complete" point guard that you typically think of, that is why I throw Blair into OU's starting line-up, he has time under his belt at the D-1 level. Guess my point is that it is not absurd to have OU in the discussion, and that is with losing last seasons starting point guard and top wing...Capel did a good job recruiting.

Quit modifying your posts, abd. That's cheating.

Also, I need another sig bet with you. Name your terms and let's do battle. I won't have WWIII to mess it up for me this year!

Lol, no thanks.

Ok, I can do this again. I didn't see you rank the conference so I don't know what I am betting against though. Last year we did it based on what I thought of Colorado compared to what you thought.

Rank em' and we will come up with a bet.

Lol, no thanks.

You act like its an NCAA violation. This isn't like Tiny getting money from that one dude.

Let's do something nice for our team, abd.

Here I will get you started:
