Big 12 Preview

Tell us again what Ford's done with the low-end talent you'd have us to believe he was working with that should make us fearful if he should manage to sign all the players you're convinced he's going to sign?

As aforementioned, one game out of first in the Big 12 and a top 20 national ranking last year and top ten national preseason ranking and picked with Kansas to win the Big 12 this year.

Say what you want about the season going forward as nobody know what's going to happen, but the facts above have already played a part in signing a top 20 class (which has the potential to be top 5 with Turner) this year and have gotten OSU in the door with class of 2015 studs in Grandstaff and Thomas and others.

You had a good season last year that ended in the first round of the NCAA tournament when you got beat by a 12 seed. All that stuff they say you're going to do this year doesn't matter a lick yet.

Geez, read for comprehension guys. I fully acknowledge we don't know what's going to happen this season, but "all that stuff" does matter to recruiting. Recruits like top ten rankings, albeit preseason, being picked to win conferences, and having preseason conference players of the year.

Those aren't the reasons OSU is getting those recruits. Wake up and smell the coffee.

Buah ha, oh yeah, how could I forget. Knew the cheating allegation wasn't far.

The last time OU had a no talent coach and recruited a bunch of highly rated players. They ended up on probation. You would be foolish to dismiss a similar outcome for OSU.

Why don't you guys wait until you actually accomplish something with this under performing coach and over hyped players and recruits before you come around with you chest puffed out?

That's cool, I do it too. Art Briles is a cheating bastard!

Two things about the example you used:
1) Art Briles isn't beating out the OU, Texas, A&Ms, Alabamas, Ohio States, USCs for recruits. That's a horrible example, even though I know you're attempting hyperbole.
2) The school you used recently had multiple violations reported across multiple sports.

Butch "Candy-man" Pierre

Ask around the recruiting circles, broseph, and you will find why he has earned that nickname many times over. You don't hear stuff like that with Briles' crew...

Not that it matters to you.

I feel bad for you that you have cheer for Ford and his orange pumpkin clan.

Pierre looking similar to the character from the movie Candyman just didn't fit your agenda, did it?

The allegations about cheating are b.s. until someone brings the proof. The say Smart drives a heap of junk jeep. As for Ford's coaching the verdict is still somewhat out. To be fair he has just assembled a team that has the talent to compete with elite teams in the country. My eyes tell me that he may come up short, but that is why we play the games. Less than an elite eight this year will be failure.

This is a fun argument, too. Ford has signed 2 top 30 national guys in his entire career. Two of the current starters were consensus 3 stars and the first two players off the bench were 3 stars. Not even close to Kansas/Duke type talent.

This should be a more scary thought for the opposition, imagine what Ford could do with 2014 top 10 big man Myles Turner and 2015 top 10 big man Elijah Thomas, both for which OSU leads, paired with an already top 15-20 2014 class and 2015 top 30 OSU commit, Austin Grandstaff.

You just made my point. Sampson and Sutton never pulled in many high profile recruits but they always were competitive and when things lined up they fielded teams that could compete with anyone in the country. You are telling me in essence that Ford can't compete with diamonds in the rough. Self is another case in point. How do you think he landed the KU job? He proved that he could do it with solid players that the KU's of the world walked right by. Ford has done no such thing to this point.
