Limit open looks, block off big Mitch, Our offense should win us this game. Time to get on a roll.

What gives me a little hope is that our defense played one of its best games of the season the last time out. OSU's offense is a little better than ISU, but if the continued effort and focus is there on the end (and we can make a few shots), we should win.

Here's our OSU beat writer's scouting report on the teams for tonight's game.

Since you all know OU's team backwards and forwards, here's his OSU player to watch:

G Kendall Smith (12.9 PPG, 3.0 APG)

Smith has been Oklahoma State’s closer and its big-shot maker. Wednesday will be the largest stage the graduate transfer has played on in his career.

So far, big stages have meant big games. He scored 25 and 24 points in the two wins over Kansas and 20 in the wins over Oklahoma and West Virginia.

He certainly does not need to match Young shot for shot, but OSU really needs a composed, efficient game from its point guard.

Another stat to know: Oklahoma State was 6-1 in Big 12 games when Smith scored at least 20 points. That means the Cowboys were 2-9 when he was held below 20.

Enjoy the game tonight!

Score over 80 points - OU is 16-2 when they do. And one of those losses was to OSU in OT.

To score over 80 OU needs to:

* make threes - need 10+
* hit Young with outlet passes on the run and beat OSU down the floor
* limit turnovers

Defense would be nice, but scoring is the difference.

Re: Big 12 Tournament | Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State | Pregame Thread

I admire the optimism on here. I'm just not seeing it.

The Sprint on Wednesday at 6 is a lonely place.

osu will have more motivation for several reasons: 1) confidence from beating KU twice, 2) possible NCAA bid, 3) Sooners on the opposing unis.

I wish we could counter that, but OUr team lost 3 of 4 to rivals this year, and I don't see Lon going to the lengths of telling the guys this game could well be for a bid.

So the Ags +1 is a mortal lock IMO.

As stated earlier, I hope I'm wrong...

Re: Big 12 Tournament | Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State | Pregame Thread

This is obviously overly simplistic, but I really feel like with our team right now, it comes down to one thing -- competing. If we compete as hard as OSU for the entire game, it doesn't guarantee a win, but I'll take our chances. Too often over the past few weeks, it feels like we get outworked by the opposition. I would like to see us on the floor for loose balls, rebounding with both hands, finishing at the rim -- all the things that really tough teams do on a nightly basis.

How many TY haters on this board are secretly, deep down wanting OU to lose tonight and for Ou to somehow miss the tourney?

My stat of the night is second chance points. Our bigs have to fight.

4-8 at under 16. Cold as ice but not playing poorly. Shots start falling and we are good

are we ever going to make shots not on our home court... like come on guys.

Why does OU shoot so many 3's..they are not a good shooting team. You think they would have learned by now..guess not

8-4 OSU at the under 16. Need to get McNeace involved since the outside shots aren't going and Solomon already has a foul.

Keep jacking up the 3s guys....oh my lord. :facepalm Need to go inside or get to the basket right now. This offense is an abortion this far.
