quick turn around.

isu won by 13 at Manhattan (ksu)
OU won by 2 in Norman (wv)

OU won first game by 4

couldn't stop Niang or Burton, isu led for almost 30 minutes.

shooting % needs to be solid, and dang Cousin's NEEDS to get his $hit figured out...lol

heart says OU, head says ISU...

Exactly right. Everything points to ISU defending their home court. But this OU team despite playing poorly lately, still is finding ways to win. I will expect a win every game except maybe @WVU

Couldn't agree more. I saw where someone said I'd be happy with 1 of 2 this week. I'm sorry but expectations have risen and we can't be hoping for a split. If we really are a top seed we go out and grab these. I wouldn't be upset with a split but I wouldn't be "good" with it either.

I'm sorry but ISU isn't what they were with Coach H. They are good but they are around that 17th ranking. Ou didn't play great against them in Norman and still snuck out with a win. If ou plays like they did against KU or nova this is a walk away type win. Need good defense. And I have to say...after seeing WVUs defense this ISU team ought to be puddy for our boys.

@Baylor and @WVU are the toughest games left. And @WVU seems like an increasingly difficult game to pull out because of how the refs let them play down there. The refs honestly grow more and more ok with the physicality throughout the game because just like Huggins says "they can't call a foul EVERY time."

A split this week makes for a good week. After Saturday, we'll be through the toughest part of our schedule and, if we're sitting at 5-2, we'll be in really good shape.

I'd obviously love to win Monday but it's going to be a really tough test for our guys.

Might have been me....on split. Not that i WANT that but reality is it very well can happen...no matter what expectations are. Most coaches dont expect to win every game...most do expect their teams to play hard, focused, execute the game plan.

Isu may not be"great" but they are good enough to beat us...OU just has better players than ksu and osu...hence playing like crap and winning. Wv helped us out by their aggressive def...giving us ft's.

Ou ku game honestly was an anomilty game...neither team has done that again. Heck ku didnt wven break 80 on tcu...at home.

Playing Iowa State on the road is tougher than playing Baylor on the road. The home court advantage at Hilton Coliseum is formidable. Both games this week will be very tough challenges.

exactly...any top 20 team has a great chance to protect their home floor plus ISU will have a fantastic crowd like we had Saturday. I hope we have the same refs with that road team bias.

Yep.

I wonder if we will use any of the junk defenses that Baylor used to beat ISU in Ames?

#1 team coming into Ames! ISU's best game of they year! Will be extremely difficult to leave Ames with a win!

I think it will be the best game they will play all year. We'd better be prepared for a dog fight.

Iowa St did exactly what they needed on Saturday, by getting a win on the road to end the two game skid. Granted, it wasn't against a top level team, but Iowa St has struggled in Bramlege, so a win is a win.

Having said that, their defensive issues are far from fixed. Kst is a below average shooting team, so playing zone majority of the time was an easy decision. It's easy to see Iowa St players are not used to playing zone. They got lost underneath and gave up a few easy baskets, but their athleticism also got them some easy steals and fast break points. Iowa St will obviously have to come up with something different against OU.

Offensively, Iowa St has been slowing it down more often. I think they finally realized it's very difficult to play that much pace with a short bench. Against Kst Saturday, Iowa St was without their 7th man, who is the first guard off the bench. However, they did get 19 minutes from a walk on guard, who had previously only came in for mop up time. If I were to guess, you'll see Iowa St play 8 guys tonight, as opposed to the seven they've played all season.

When you just look at the two teams matched up, and looking at their previous game, it's hard not to like Oklahoma to win. They missed some shots in the game in Norman, and Iowa St's Burton played spectacular, something he hasn't came close to, the last two games. Then there's the Hilton factor. This will be the first conference game with the students back, and I'm sure it'll be loud. Normally I would say the way Oklahoma can neutralize the noise is to start out hot, and get a decent lead, but Iowa St has proved that all they need to do is get a couple baskets in a row, and the crowd will try to will them back.

Honestly, the crowd is taken out of the game when Iowa St gets out front, then the opposing team has a quick run, and the crowd just becomes stunned, and its difficult to get them going again. See Baylor, the last two seasons.

I'll be there to watch, so hopefully it's a great game.

That is a bonus. Not many walk ons could step up and play 19 minutes on the road at an acceptable level for their first major minutes. Good for that kid. I hope he can't repeat that feat against OU and then wish him well the rest of the season.

While he is a walk-on, there's little doubt he has always been the 8th best player, since Naz went down. He came from a d-2 school in Iowa. He's 6-4, pretty athletic, and could shoot really well at his previous school.
He only had 5 points, 1-2 from 3, on Saturday, but I thought he played really composed, knew the offense, and played really well out top in the 2-3 zone.

You've changed your tune since your "near win" in Norman. You sand-bagging a little bit!?

Not sure I was ever praising this team. Since the Naz Long injury, I figured this team would struggle to complete for the conference championship. I was disappointed in the back-to-back losses to Baylor and Texas, but the win at kst hopefully helps to get back on track.

If Iowa St can find a way to win tonight, and Saturday @tcu, then it sets up a game against top 3 KU next Monday. It's obviously a huge task, but if they find a way to win all 3, they are back to one of the better teams in the country.
