We beat oswho by 20+ points tonight!

And yet a hush has fallen over this board.

There have been lots of posts in recent weeks about how our players are wearing down, but it appears to be Sooner fans who are wearing down.

Surprised there's not a thread started on spangs 26 and 14 effort..being at work I didn't see the game but looking over the boxscore that's a quality effort

He had a great game. Really fun to watch.

Seriously, why are their not more people celebrating beating osu. If we can keep getting this Spangler and Lattin we can cut down the nets.

I'm not unhappy about the outcome at all tonight; I'm perfectly content. But two things to keep in mind if we are talking about potentially "cutting down" any nets:

1. This OSU team is just putrid. Absolutely horrendous basketball team. They are a little below average when healthy. Right now, they are a dumpster fire. Beating them by 20 shows very little IMO, other than OU did what they needed to do.

2. We still look a bit slow and the offense isn't anywhere near as fluid as it was early in the season. The team is tough and strong defensively and experienced-- they know how to stay in games when shots don't fall-- but as we saw in the three out of four losses, eventually all those misses cost you against non-awful teams. We came out and looked terrible for the majority of the first half tonight, save Spangler. Had OSU not been OSU, we easily could have found ourselves in a big, big hole.

I'm not being negative. I am fine with this game. No complaints. But it was far from a masterpiece and far from a performance that makes me believe we are firing on all cylinders for March.

Give me time, I had to go to bed. 5am comes early.

I've been on this board since its inception, and only recently went over 1000 posts. As a result, I don't post much win or lose. However, I think a lot of folks were expecting more consistency out of this very experienced team. In last night's game, 3 starters had 0 points at halftime against a weak team decimated by injuries. Most of us know that we'll go home early in March with a first-half effort like that. As for me, I'm encouraged by our defensive play as of late. I think there is a correlation between playing very strong defense and a decreased offensive shooting percentage.

It's human nature for a fan base which had the #1 team in the country for 3 weeks to be frustrated that we can't get a second player on the team to be a CONSISTENT offensive threat...scoring 20 points one game and 2 the next can test one's patience. Remember the game we played at Baylor? I think we could use a game like that against Texas this Saturday. That will wake up the fans. :)

the clowns are like vultures, they are just waiting for us to lose and then they will be back in full force. nature of the message board I guess??

Sad bunch.. feel sorry for their families.

OU

here's this idea I have .... we let all criticism of one another as fans go by and just keep enjoying the great successes we have with this wonderful team of sooners!!!

you dont get a team like this very often. I'd rather we ride the wave of attention and winning as long as possible then we can worry about who is the best and most loyal fan.

Not ragging on anyone in particular. Just saying let's move past it and praise this group while they are in C&C!!

The reason not many are discussing is because we EXPECTED to beat them. I think the bigger news is not that we beat them but that we have beaten them 7 times in a row.

We need Spangler to hit some open 3's like he did last night and we need him to be an inside presence like he was last night. We don't need 26 points each night from him to "cut down the nets" but we need him hit some shots unlike he did in that long stretch of games.

What encouraged me about last night is 2 of those guys with 0 points at halftime hit some big shots in the 2nd half to get some confidence. Buddy also scored after halftime by hitting a few long 3's. Lattin didn't do much offensively but we don't need much from (on the offensive end) him other than to make the dunks.

While I was elated that Spangler had the game of his lif I was thoroughly disgusted with the play from really everyone else until about the 15:00 mark of the second. Honestly, do you think Lon was excited about our play? Nice to get the win but c'mon. We need a more complete game. We are coming down the finish line and not firing on all cylinders. Boomer!

The people whining about negative posts or lack of celebratory posts are worse than the negative posters

I'll jump in...since I've been one to question our "post play" during the skid.

Yes...loved Spangler...and YES, good win...but you honestly thought "great game" in the first half?

Like many have said...we SHOULD have beaten them by 20. They are horrible. Of course, I'm sure the "osu killed ku" will come up.

As someone else mentioned, IF we have our 3 starters with 0 points in a half during March it'll be a short run.

Loved the def intensity...seemed to keep us going. Glad he cleared the bench.

I enjoyed the game, as far as posting DURING the game...was at fiance's didn't have computer, got home at 10:30 went to bed.

Boomer!

We beat a terrible team. This board isn't anymore quiet than the fans were last night at the game. It was not a loud environment.

Beating a team with 3 wins in conference isn't going to get people screaming from the rooftops.

Some of you are judges more than fans, and while you're entitled, of course, I don't envy you. The day I don't want to celebrate a 22-point over a heated rival, you can put me in the ground, breathing or not.

I came to this board about 30 minutes after last night's game. There were three threads with new posts, and only one -- the game thread -- had anything to do with the win. That's mindboggling to me.

The board wasn't much busier a few days back after our 14-point road win over a top ten team, so the "big deal -- we should have won" trope is meaningless. Anyone who is so jaded that he can't enjoy a 22-point win over a hated in-state rival, even after a ragged first half, who is more motivated by losses than wins -- and clearly many fans here are -- is more a critic than a fan, reduced to offering a thumbs up or thumbs down and missing out on a lot of fun along the way.

+1

This team is a shell of itself from early Jan .
We won't make it past teh sweet 16 with this current production .

Saying that they could completely turn it around in three weeks ..... But we are easily playing our worst basketball of the season .

That was a horrible ..... HORRIBLE ..... osu team and we had the lead for 5 seconds in the first half ... At home .this with a career game by a starter .

No way to spin the way this team is playing ( if we are talking about final fours) but posters talking about cutting down nets have their heads in the sand.

This team can't even put together a consistent half , much less make a deep run ( MUTIPLE games )right now . Sure things can change and they do have the talent to win it all ..... But they are plying some average basketball currently

Good news, 1234, Spring Practice is just around the corner!

Largest victory over O-State since 1988. That's what I'm going to focus on. That and the really good second half we played. That and a senior stepping up in the first half when the rest of the team allowed the Aggies' slow pace to dictate matters.
