Big XII is strong

Glad you're enjoying TCU and WVU.

And yes, MU has struggled in its first three SEC football games, but this season isn't representative of what MU is capable of, and it isn't going to kill MU's football brand.

I'll gladly accept SEC basketball champs as our identity going forward.

And no, the Big 12 isn't "as strong as ever" in basketball. It's not even as good as it was last year.

3:40am?

You must have been drunk writing this.

I don't know if we'll ever see the conference as top heavy as it was in 01-04 or around there. But there are a lot of good teams. We could be much better as a team this year and still finish 7th or 8th in the conference. I'm not sure if the conference really has a top caliber team nationally right now.

as much as it kills me to say it- Kansas is top 10 quality. They return 3 of their 5 best players. They have two impact guys waiting in the wings- Ellis and McLemore. They have 8 high quality guys on their roster and that is all you really need if they can avoid an injury to one of their big 3- Withey, Johnson, Releford.

Withey
Ellis
Releford
Johnson
McLemore
Tharpe
White
Young

1969...the last year that Missouri won at least a share of a conference championship in football (Mizzou did have the tiebreaker in '69). 1960 was the last time they won a conference championship outright. Only two finishes in the AP top 5 all-time. Now THAT is what you call a "BRAND"...well, of mediocrity.

Not to mention their ZERO Final Fours in men's hoops.

actually it is the perfect representation of what MU is capable of

Not really. Injuries have decimated our offense (Franklin, Josey, four starting OL and two top backups have missed all or part of the season). The Vandy loss doesn't happen if Franklin doesn't go down in that game, and MU is at least competitive in the other two if at full strength.

4-2 with two competitive losses to top 10 teams in a transition year is fine with me.

We'll see on basketball. I'll put MU's talent up against anyone.

Shoulda, coulda...let's talk about a narrow win over the powerhouse known as UCF.
2-4 is just as plausibly argued. And one of those 2 wins was by merely 4 in Columbia.

And if you guys don't beat Kentucky, it's probably an 0-fer in the SEC.

Personally, I'd take Mizzou back tomorrow, if I were Bowlsby.
But I'm going to have to point and laugh in the meantime.

Don't disagree. Even if MU does go 0-8 in its first season in the SEC (which I don't anticipate), though, I don't think that's any more indicative of MU's future than OU's 2009 season was indicative of OU in future seasons.

On a basketball note that might actually be semi-related to Oklahoma, I got my first in-person glimpse of Tony Criswell (Douglass HS in OKC) tonight. The guy is far better than I expected. I don't know what kind of numbers he'll put up, but he's a high-level athlete, plays with good energy and is surprisingly skilled. He has legitimate range out to the three point line. Very excited to see more of him.
