Bracketology 2018

I have a question for the people that don't seem to be worried at all:

You do realize that the last 4 in aren't automatically 16 seeds right?
11,12 seeds seem to be where they put the last 4 in.

So if we are a 9/10 right now, and lose tomorrow, you aren't worried we could drop to a seed or two and be in the last group of teams?

the last 4 at large teams and in the first 4 (12's or 13's usually) and the 4 lowest rated rpi teams in the field are also in the first 4 ... (those are always the 16 seeds)

Let me put it this way.

On BracketMatrix.com, OU is currently the best 9 seed. All polled brackets have updated either yesterday or today.

There are four 9 seeds, four 10 seeds, and six 11 seeds (assuming the last four at-large bids are 11's, which looks likely).

To knock OU out, one would have to believe that after showing a better resume for thirty games, the thirty-first game is enough to move fourteen teams past OU. I don't believe it for a second. You're talking about teams like Providence, who has lost three times to teams with losing records, twice at home; or St. Mary's, who has only two good wins and is coming off a loss to a team that's not much better than OSU; or Syracuse, who has also lost a couple of games to teams with losing records. And you're not getting to pick one of these; you have to put ALL of them in. Plus 11 others who aren't any better.

As bad as OU may look from close up, there just aren't that many teams that you can justify having in the tournament instead.

I also believe this will be irrelevant after OU wins tomorrow. :OU-logo:

Well said. I'd almost note that the odds of us being passed by that many teams if we lose tomorrow are remote since the loss would be to the mighty OSU team that, according to some on this board, is the second coming of Golden State. :) Having said that, if we lose by 50 and key player gets hurt, things can change. Short of something drastic, though, we are in MUCH better shape than about 15 teams around the country who are looing to play their way in.

I understand the worry from some of our fans, but there is absolutely NO way, given we are a 9-seed right now, that 10-12 teams are going to pass us during conference tournament weekend......even if we lost tonight. For example, Florida State (who is fairly near to us in seeding territory) just lost to Louisville (another team on the outside looking in). Thus, FSU won't pass us and Louisville would have to win the ACC tourney and knock off the big dogs (UNC, Duke, Virginia) to even contemplate passing us (given their current resume). We are in the tournament fellas....relax.

And for the upteenth time, conferences don't get bids....teams do. Yes, it would be historic if the Big 12 got 9 out of 10 teams in the tournament, but OSU would have to win 2 more games in KC to even make that a possibility.

Haters don't want to hear any of this.

Quitters don’t deserve to play in the tournament.

I agree....this team is turning out to be a group of losers unfortunately. Having said that, we will be in the tournament....and will only have to get our asses kicked one more time this season....thank God.

If we make it, we will be literally the worst team in the field

If any of you think we're worse than all 4 16 seeds that make the field then you're delusional

The logical thing for the committee to do would be to put OU in Dayton. Make them earn a bid to the round of 64

But they get automatic bids. Power 5 teams never get 16, 15, or even 14 seeds.

The tournament is not the best 64 teams. It is one reor sentative from each conference and then the best 30 or whatever remaining teams.

I think the narrative that they quit is ridiculous. They gave excellent defensive effort. They got killed on the boards by a physically stronger team, they couldn't hit shots, and the refs let the pokes play extremely physically, which favored them.

Not a matter of quitting though.

they quit.

They don't care anymore.

You don't get doubled up on rebounds unless you quite. they had 18 offensive rebounds! that is effort!
