Breaking: Buzz quotes from tonight

"I anticipate, if I can sleep between now and open of business on Monday, that on Monday we'll begin to work on the fourth contract."

"I have now completed three seasons as head coach at MU. I have worked under three different contracts."

"Is it gonna happen on Monday? I don't think so. I can tell you this: from the bottom to the top...I have great confidence in them."

"I think they feel the same way about me. And no amount of money, no years of service, no anything else that goes into a contract...""...means more to me than that."

From Rosiak...

Lots of rumor and innuendo swirling around out there about Buzz. Spent 20 minutes alone with him after #MUBB's loss tonight.

He did not sound like a man who's looking to leave. In fact, talks between he and #MUBB about his deal could begin as soon as this weekend.

Re: Breaking: Buzz quotes from tonight

A couple of days ago Georgia's coach said "I guarantee that I will be at Georgia next year." We have yet to see Buzz say anything remotely like that about Marquette.

Re: Breaking: Buzz quotes from tonight

Buzz is full retard if he doesn't leave Marquette for our program that is in shambles and will take 3 years to rebuild

Re: Breaking: Buzz quotes from tonight

You can't trust beat writers from homer teams. The beat writers for OU at local news papers all thought Capel was coming back till the day before he was fired. There was even a big article in the paper the day it came out that he was fired in the Oklahoman about how bright Capel's future was.

Re: Breaking: Buzz quotes from tonight

"I have great comfort about where I'm at personally and where I'm at professionally. I have unbelievable confidence..."

"...and faith in the upper administration at MU. And that's not going to change, regardless of my emotional level..."

"...from just getting whipped in the Sweet 16. I think that our future is bright."

Re: Breaking: Buzz quotes from tonight

He may very well end up staying at Marquette, who knows. What I am saying is that he has yet to say anything that even comes close to shutting the door on him leaving.

Re: Breaking: Buzz quotes from tonight

I know guys, I know, I'm just "reporting" or relaying the quotes.

Coach-speak is very common during these situations.

Certainly not begrudging you for passing on the information, I appreciate it.

Re: Breaking: Buzz quotes from tonight

"If you track my past, I've never made a decision on money. Ever. And I have never made a decision on location."

If he was certain he was going to stay, why is there a need for a new contact on Monday? Doesn't he already have a contract? Doesn't it have a huge buyout? Isn't it already for six more years? Why does Marquette have any incentive to up the ante unless he might leave? But how can he leave if the buyout is so large?

Re: Breaking: Buzz quotes from tonight

Well things are about to get very interesting over the next few days, to say the least. Hopefully this doesn't become a Mike Anderson type circus

None of what I just read makes me any less likely to think we will bag him.

It just doesn't take that much effort to say, "I'm staying at Marquette".

Re: Breaking: Buzz quotes from tonight

Just watched the Baldwin scene in Glengarry to get me fired up about wooing Buzz.

Joe C: Get them to sign on the line which is dotted. Always Be Closing, Joe C.

Attention-Interest-Decision-Action

We need some action

There are three years left on what was a six years contract originally. Maybe he's wants to see if Marquette is serious about retaining him before making a decision? Who the heck knows? There has been so much misinformation and speculation about Buzz the past couple of weeks, it's making my head hurt. :facepalm

I'm still hearing it will happen Tuesday or Wednesday $2.1 million. There is a person locally assuring OU of this who is representing Buzz. There is someone else involved with connections to Buzz that is a big name locally that doesn't have anything to gain from trying to get Buzz more money at Marquette. Both have gone out on a limb to basically slow down the search so Buzz will get it. Should be interesting.
