It is always great to add a talented kid who does well in school.

Coached against him for 3 years already. Could do much worse than him as a recruited walk on. Kid had mid major offers.

Just got off the phone with Cole, great kid. Likely will redshirt his first year. Very smart with a 32 ACT and a 4.0 GPA. Very excited to be a Sooner.

Outstanding news!

Welcome to the Sooner family, C.J.!!! :OUbball-logo:

I'm sure you are right. But, with CJ and Barry both moving on, I could see that there might be a role for the new CJ next season.

He isnt ready to play next year. I think he will redshirt. Needs a year to bulk up and be a undersized 4. Great kid from what I know and hear.

Will be fun to see him grow...!

He is already 220. And next year is a year away. But, thanks for your imput.

Physically he would be ready but from a skill standpoint he would definitely need a redshirt year. Unfortunately, the high school season does very little for him as far as testing his skill. He won't see a player close to his size/ability in 3A all year I wouldn't think. I know he won't in his conference.

So, which is it? Does he need to work on his skills or bulk up? If Kruger redshirts him, I'm sure that is what he needed.

I was just saying that there cold be a limited role spot in the rotation next season for a forward.

Not saying he will redshirt or not. But doesn't redshirting just add to our turnover problem with a huge 2013 class?

With Osby, M'Baye, Arent, Fitz, Clark, Neal and Jarion Henry all at the forward spot, I am not sure where CJ would get any minutes.

For those of you who have seen C. J. play, any comparisons to former players? Does his style and size remind you of a Najera, for example, or someone else? And, no, I'm not comparing him to Eduardo after he came into his own as a player. But he was similar in size and about as raw as they come when he arrived at OU.

I think the concern would be 4 years from then when having to replace all those scholarships. Since he will be a walk-on it might not be much of a concern. Just guessing.

My response seems pretty clear which one I thought it was. Thanks for your input though.

Can't see any role at the forward spot next year for CJ. Everybody returns but Washington's limited minutes and we add major minutes from M'baye and minutes from Henry.

just a note .. M'baye practices with the guards more than he does with the forwards

I'm not for sure either. But, to this point, Clark is a perimeter player. On offense, Tyler has been to. As far as M'Baye, so far in practice, he has never worked or drilled with the interior players or bigs.

So, if one wanted to call a couple of the positions the #5 and #4. You would have Fitz/Arent and Osby/Henery. I'm not sure how it will shake out. I'm just saying both CJ and Honere will get minutes this season and they will both be gone.

Do you guys that have seen practice think M'baye will actually spend all his time on the perimeter or do you think the coaches are just trying to use this year to develop his guard skills since he's not able to play.

The few practices I have seen, I thought M'Baye hit the glass and rebounded very well. However, he can really step out and stretch the defense and knock down jumpers. He does a little bit of everything.

I think he could play the #4 and do very well if that is where he is needed. But, if they can find a good 4 man rotation to bang and grind inside without him. He would likely be much more valuable as say a #3.
