He is putting up Lebron type numbers and his team is starting to click (albeit against an easy schedule).

His numbers are equal to Lebron's so far this year.
 
With Rose in Chicago out, i'd say it's a two horse race b/w Durant and Lebron, and probably will be that way for the next 4-6 years at least.

Carmelo is in the hunt.

When it's all said & done Lebron will win it until people get tired of voting for him. He's the best all around player by a large margin.

Yeah large margin is the wrong way to put it. Lebrons ability to dominate in the paint when necessary is what elevates him above everybody else.
