Capel gets another year.

When you look around OU athletics, what sticks out.

Football - Big 12 Champs BCS Bowl Winners #6 final ranking.

Volleyball - NCAA Sweet Sixteen

Women's Soccer - NCAA Tournament

Men's Cross Country - Won Midwest Region and finished #5

Baseball - 14-0 and #2, and probably #1 next week.

Softball - National Top Ten

Track - Both Men and Women ranked in Top Ten

Men's Gymnastics - #1 in the nation

Women's Gymnastics - #4 in the nation.

Wrestling - #7 in the nation.

Women's Basketball - Top 25 and NCAA Lock.

Men's Basketball - 13-17

Who is on the hot seat and why?

A guy never on the hotseat, lol.

We finished one game behind oSu in conference without any allegations of rape or playing a player in light of such allegations or shooting 50 FT's at home. Why is Capel on a hot seat and Ford isn't? Both are back next season so the point is probably moot, but I still laugh.

Please explain to me why OU would compare their coach to OSU to make a coaching decision? Ford has nothing to do with Capel being on the hot seat. If OSU wants to keep a loser coach then power to them, it is irrelevant to OU.

Capel is on the hot seat because he is the only losing coach on campus and has completely broken OU's tradition of winning in basketball (ie. 25 consecutive post season appearances).

You must be a Longhorn or an Aggie who wants OU to keep Capel because I promise you, those fans want Capel at OU.

So Ford should be fired for rape and Capel should be kept for losing. I understand now.

Or a guy who sees that out of nowhere he was forced to rebuild when he didn't expect to, and sees that he finished better than was expected in conference with lesser talent. But whatever, I'm totally a Longhorn or Aggie or a Race Baiter, whatever fits!

I compare him to oSu's coach becuase other people on this board do all the time. We split with them (without the benefit of 50 FT attempts) and played a better OOC schedule/. Fact is, Capel has to get it done next season, but he'll be here to do it!

And whose fault was this? I think every player on the team was recruited by Capel so if there are talent issues, it is on him.

If you think OU's talent level is going up next year then you had better look around. Nick Thompson had better stats in Juco then Robert Goff and that is our lone recruit. Yes, Osby is on campus but he only averaged 4 points and 2 rebounds at Miss State.

On top of this, Capel lost his assistant coaches in the past couple of years. Rod Barnes to Georgia State, his long time buddy Mark Cline left for Marshall, and Coach O (who did all the recruiting) of NCAA interest was let go. He replaced them with the video guy because no assistant coaches would come to OU.

Can you name our assistant coaches and their experience?

A problem I have with the guys that are real pro Capel right now is that they think he has nothing to do with the current situation that he has basically built. If we win 10 games next year it still won't be his fault.

And yet with all that, we still finished better than predicted. No credit for that? None? I give up. Fuuuure Cappple.

I knew this was coming.

Dude, you posted it. Just pointing it out. Trying to understand why you think Capel should stay and it seems you are ready to call out those who don't support him racist. Just sayin.

Yep, that is EXACTLY what was said.

Depends on who you ask. I think we probably finished about where most people predicted us. They were much worse than I thought because I thought going in Capel was a much better coach than he really was. We basically looked similar to last year as far as style goes but we played harder. That didn't give us anymore wins than last year.

This logic is foolish. Does this mean that you should create a sorry team so you can beat expectations? If Capel had been doing his job then OU would have been predicted to finish in the top half of the conference and in the post season like we did for the 25 years before Capel arrived.

The bottom line is that OU was predicted to be sorry because Capel failed at his job. By the way, OU was picked 11th in the Preseason Coaches Poll and tied for 10th so I don't know that we finished higher than expected. Iowa State was picked last.

Is tenth better than eleventh?

I'm over it, the guy will be here for one more year and if we suck he is gone.

Better than predicted? How so? Weren't we picked to finish 11th? Didn't we finish tied for 10th/11th? That is about as spot-on as you can get with a prediction.

The funny thing is that Capel is off the Coach K tree. Every single coach off that tree has failed miserably - It is like a poison tree.

Perfect logic.

This has gotten to the point where I enjoy the haters.
