Capel gets another year.

If he is here we will suck so why waste another year.

No let's put it off. We can keep burying our program while other quality coaches (who want this job) take positions somewhere else and also kick our tail. If the Capel supporters were running things, we would still be paying taxes to England...

The funny thing is that Capel is off the Coach K tree. Every single coach off that tree has failed miserably - It is like a poison tree.

Mike Brey - doesn't suck
Tommy Amaker - Used to suck but has Harvard going to the tourney (probably).
Johnny Dawkins - mediocre
Jeff Capel - sucks
Mike Dement - sucks

Ooh, Quinn Snyder, Quinn Snyder!!!!

Do you really think he has done a good job?

1. Coaching?

2. Recruiting?

3. Hiring?

4. Player Retention?

5. Graduating Players?

I'll be fair and give percentages out of 100%.

1. 30%
2. According to star rankings - 75%....talent mixed with character - 35%
3. 10%....horrible assistants
4. 10%
5. 10%

My source was from the beginning of the year, when it was expressed to me be someone in the AD that Capel had one more year after this. It is in rebuttal to a Trammel article and posters on here who says he is on the hotseat, and pointing out that one of our biggest rivals has worse problems than we do and their coach has not had the overall success and wondering why he isn't on the same "hotseat".

Fair enough?
I love agreeing with Brace for a change that Capel is definitely not on the hot seat this year.

Hey Zilch or Peace,

If he is still around OU next year which you guys think will be the case, then it will be a really long season. Robert Goff is not the talent that will turn around the problem. The new conference will be tougher for OU because we will have to play KU, Mizzou, KSU twice next year. That sounds ugly. I think attendance will drop significantly further than it currently has dropped.

I didn't want him in the first place. I really was pissed Joe C. thought so little of our program to go out and hire a guy for 600k which was 11th in the conference for salaries. I felt at that time it was Kansas #1 Texas 2a and OU 2b in the conference. Now we are behind Missouri,K-State,and A&M. It is really depressing but watching the Thunder tonight I was shocked that I was screaming at Collison to jump. We can get support back if we start winning but my son and his young executives in OKC go to the Thunder games. They start at 7:00 are over by 9:30 and they go down to Bricktown right after work and get a beer and a sandwich. OU is over later and then it takes longer to get down there and to get back. And did I say beer at the Ford Center? Did I say Westbrook and Durant?

It is going to take the reincarnation of Billy Ball,Waymon Tisdale and Blake to get OU back.

But Speedy I have asked around the last few weeks and too many around Norman all say Jeff is under no pressure. However today someone reputable said Joe has soured a little lately but nowhere close to canning him.

I learned all I needed to know about Ca$tiglione's respect for OU Basketball and its rich tradition when he axed Top Daug.

Honestly, we are way behind Kansas, Texas, A&M, Mizzou, KSU, and even Baylor. Drew outrecruits Capel every year. Shoot right now, everybody outrecruits Capel because kids don't want to join the sinking ship. Thank Goodness for Texas Tech and Iowa State, however, Tech is looking to dump little Knight and they have a new athletic director. I also think that is why Capel got stuck with promoting his video guy to be an assistant because nobody wanted to jump on the sinking ship.

It will just be another bad season.

It's hard for me to get behind Jeff for another year when 6 of the 13 wins were against teams with an RPI higher than 240.
Coppin=241
NC Central=264
Gard Webb=261
Sac St=330
C Ark=340
MD E Shore=327

And only 3 wins vs the top 100.
Aggie=62
CU=76
BU=83

Ford had 6 wins vs the top 100 FWIW.

You probably don't remember but Top Dawg started out as Under Dawg when Tubbs arrived then we started winning and they changed him to Top Daug!!!

We need Under Dawg Back!!!!!

It's a long way until season ticket renewals will be sent out, but if they were due next week I would be reluctant to get OU basketball tickets again because the current state of the program.

Blatantly stolen from the wrestling team by Billy, correct?

I don't remember the wrestling team being an underdog back then. That was probably the greatest group of wrestling talent ever at OU. Shultz brothers, Andre Metzger, Dr. Death, Derek Glenn - Just Wow!!!!
