He's 14-22 with 3 games left this season all of which we will probably lose (at aTm, at KSU, KU at home).

Any ideas why his teams seem to have swoons in February?

Is it conditioning?
Is it coaching?
Is it not enough talent?
Is it just bad luck?

Thoughts?

Too focused on Valentine's day and a longer winter? Not sure, but this is the time that good teams are peaking.

They play good teams in February, thus, they lose.

Good thread.

BOB is a terrible poster in February.

Of course you and your minions label people as terrible posters when they don't think or post the same as you.

I wonder why? I thought it was yours after I read it.

I would just work on trying not to suck so much. I know you are old but its never too late in life to improve.

Always nice when a mod attacks a poster.

BTW...you weren't around much until about 3 weeks ago? Seems you started getting active after the 4 game winning streak. Might I call you a bandwagon fan? :ez-laugh:

well i think thats a valid question.. Why are they so bad in February?? I mean that salty Nebraska team was anything but.. I thought they had about as much talent as we do but did less stupid things... Turnovers etc..

That Nebraska team probably doesnt have a single top 125 player on roster, lost their starting PF and one of their better players to transfer midseason, yet they are 17-8 with some key home games remaining.

OU has Fitz, Pledger, Clark, and Newell that fit that category (top 125 players), plus the Oklahoma Player of the Year (Neal).

Why are they better?

They play good defense. Sadler reminds me a lot of Sampson on the sidelines and with his tenacious defense.

If we played defense like that, our record would be better than it is. I would guess 4-5 games different (@osu, Neb, Cincy, Chaminade would all be wins). Which would make us 16-9 with a 6-5 conference record at this point.

Defense has been my main gripe with Capel all along. Teams that don't have much talent but play lockdown defense win games. Throw in some of the talent he has had and we would have been much better every season.

well i mean they are more disciplined... There size helped them a lil more i mean the neb guard play was pretty bad.. OU forgets to do stuff like throw it inside to fitz in the second half.. We run a bunch of plays for cade and pledge but id rather clark take the shot.. The tv crew talked about that jeter guy last night man i thought he was awful.. Another reason is youth sometimes they dont know how to win

Off hand, I would guess it is a combo of experience and height:

Jeter Sr 7 pts
McCray Jr 10 pts
Walker Jr 10 pts
Diaz So 6-11 17 pts
Ubel So 6-10 9 pts.

Are Capel bashers the same people who were Sampson Supporters? Does this go back to that? Just curious

Sampson>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Capel if it's just about X's and O's.

If Capel won as much as Sampson did, there wouldn't be that many people bashing him.
