Capel was asked Thursday night if he has any concerns he won't be back next season.
"No," Capel said. "None at all."

Would a coach that had been given the cold shoulder or even remotely on the hot seat say this? The media frenzy that has ensued the last 10 days was very irresponsible IMHO. In todays world if Emig is the culprit then he appears to have learned you have to be dead certain on sources on free for alls like this. Then someone on a OU site trusts Emig and then things snowball.
You can blow ho ho at what Jay Upchurch and James Hale said but they were adamant that Capel was not in any danger of losing his job. I think if Capel keeps his job which is becoming more apparent now then he has a reason to be upset with the media.
However if he does get let go it will be coincidence because I seriously doubt anybody but Joe and 1-2 close advisers outside the University and not within are the only ones to know. Joe knows the drill and professionally said nothing to anyone like a regent or a foundation member. Joe doesn't let his Assistant AD even know anything and the same goes for the Administration. Boren really has the loose lips the most. Emig knows he may have to crawl under a rock over screwing up the 'We need better kids remark" without the qualifying "no disrespect our current kids". He also blew the story that in Lubbock that Capel said Joe C. was giving him the cold shoulder.
I was not from day one a Capel supporter from the get go. I was furious that Joe C. thought so little of our program's stature that he would offer someone 600k and almost dead last in the conference salaries. I thought the team tanked it by losing 7 out of his last 8 Capel's first year. But more and more I find myself feeling sorry for him.
