Those 2 players lost were McD's AA. How many of them are left in April?
 
BS about losing players Capel didn't know we were gonna lose. He said he knew TMG was gone after the Colorado game. He had to know Willie was gone, considering he thought about it the year before. Tiny might have been a little bit of a surprise. It's his own fault he didn't bring in capable replacements. Instead of chasing Barnes, he should have been going after realistic players.

I hate it when a coach blames the players and he is the one who evaluated the guys and offered them a $100k+ worth of education for them to play.

whatever. I don't where this myth that capel doesn't take blame comes from. good lord people can be so dumb

It was just the other day that capel took blame. capel haters just like to glance over it b/c it doesn't fit their agenda
 
Capel played the "dont believe it unless you hear it from me" card last year, and he KNEW things were messed up.

He literally said the exact same thing, both on twitter and to the media. Talked about all the false rumors going around.

Turns out, every word was true. TMG left, Tiny left, WW left, and Oronde hooked Tiny up to some guy who paid him money.

No excuse here. I'm really on the fence on this one. I know Capel got himself in this mess with the players he recruited that didn't pan out, but I also know this is by far the best coaching job he has done. Just be careful what you wish for. A lot of people were calling for Kelvin Sampson's job at the end of his tenure. I'm betting all of those people would accept Kelvin type results right now.
 
Capel is mean for saying we need better players. My God. :ez-laugh:

Why do you think that is? I just don't get it. I would think rule #1 would be to lock down the home front and then go fill in the gaps elsewhere.

Of course Dave Bliss had a pretty solid run of success recruiting all those Indiana guys for us. All things equal, though, I'd like to see Oklahoma kids wearing the crimson and cream.

Yes, they were -- but were they taking up six or seven scholarships?

Sorry, but a coach has to be able to fill out his entire roster with worthy and able players, plus some stars as icing on the cake.

And those two McDAA were huge busts at OU (in terms of tenure, if nothing else) and Capel himself has admitted that they were trouble from the jump.

And yet he started them from start to finish, all but letting the inmates run the asylum.
 
And I have no problem with firing Capel for the mess that those McD's AA left us in but don't come on here and say he should be fired because of his coaching ability after the job he did this year. This team had no business finishing anywhere besides dead last in the Big 12.

Finishing ahead of Iowa St. and Tech is no accomplishment.
They just outsucked us.
