This is from the "He's Done?" story pinned at the top of the board.

Capel said it was important to keep Warren involved as much as possible while he recovers.

“Even though he’s not able to play, he still is able to have great influence on some of these guys. So it is important for him to be out there,” the coach said.

Thoughts?

I think that as much as some people might want him to say something negative about WW in the press, he's not going to do it - no matter what his personal feelings are.

He already has. About as negative as I've heard a coach talk about a player in some time.

I think what Capel said is true. Willie will continue to have an influence on the other players as long as he is part of the team. He spends several hours every day with his teammates, some more than others. His presence at practice, on the bench during games, and everything they do together before and after those events has to have an influence on the entire team. Coach Capel is doing the right thing by attempting to make those experiences as positive as possible under the circumstances.

Do you think he is lying? He compliments WW and you say Capel is not going to say something negative no matter what his personal feelings are. That suggests to me that no matter what Capel says you and many other will continue to believe everything is WW fault. I don't get that. If Capel believes that but doesn't want to say anything negative, why say anything at all.

I'm saying that I think some people want Capel to say something that would verify their own negative opinion of WW but I don't think Capel is going to do that - even if he happened to agree with them. Even when coaches kick players off of a team, they are as diplomatic as possible when asked about the player - no matter the circumstances.

I agree Ada. Sometimes players don't know the influence they have on their teammates, with even something as slight as body language. Sounds like good words of encouragement by Capel for WW.
