We are 8-2, firmly in second place behind Baylor. KSU comes to Norman Saturday. I'm going to go ahead and mark that down in the win column which gives us a 9-2 conference record. I don't think we will lose more than three games so we should be in good shape at about 14-5 when the conference tourney rolls around.

Considering who they have yet on their schedule and where, Iowa State probably has the easiest schedule of any of the "contenders." Are you a contender at 5-5? TCU still has to travel to Baylor,Texas, and OU.

As of now, I suspect that OU will end up 14-4. We may slip up against someone, but we may also beat Baylor. That means a 6-2 finish. I'm not sure TCU ends up with a 500 record. Iowa State may be exactly that. When you have one or two teams doing well in a balanced conference, an even record may be the exception.

I am not sure we can win another road game unless Carter steps up her game. I don't expect 57% from 3, but without some consistency from her we do not have enough scoring. I think we will lose between 3 and 5 more.
Hope I am wrong and our defense can carry us.

You and I are on the same page. I think we lose 2 to Baylor and probably at least one other game on the road.

That would be 13-5 in the conference and 19-10 overall. Two tourney wins and OU would be 21-11 before selection day. I'm going to guess that we'll be 22-10 or even 23-9.

Maybe I have more faith in this team and their abilities. I think they go no worse than 14-4 in conference, add play in the conference championship. Yes they are young but keep getting better.

Gioya will get her groove back, she is coming into her own and will work her way out of it. She's just that good.

You're right, I meant to hit a 3. Typing in an Iphone with big hands is not easy.

After today and tonight:

1. Baylor 10-0
2. Oklahoma 8-2
3. Iowa State 5-5
3. TCU 5-5
5. Texas 4-6
5. Kansas State 4-6
5. West Virginia 4-6
5. Kansas 4-6
9. Oklahoma State 3-7
9. Texas Tech 3-7

It seems strange that two of Tech's three wins came against West Virginia.
Kansas has the worst overall record at 13-10.

I think we will beat Baylor at home. Call me nuts but I am thinking that. Or it will be a really close game.

I hope so. I want Mulkey at least concerned that we could whip them during the tournament. A win for us at home against them, could change a lot of things for the better.

Earlier in the year, Baylor was having trouble making threes. At that time it wasn't necessary to guard the 3 point line as close which made them easier to defend. Now, they have 3 who can make 3s so that means we will have to guard the perimeter which opens up the interior where they can score as well.

I just don't think they are a good match-up for us but, I hope I'm wrong and that's why they play the games.

Amazing statement. Carter doesn't need to step up her game – she has, and is, playing at an all-conference level. Gioya had something of an off-shooting night against ISU, but she did so many other things that contributed to the Sooner win.

I can't ever remember a year where a 2nd place team had a three game advantage over their closest pursuer just one game past midseason.

It's starting to get hard to imagine OU not finishing better than third. It appears that it's a two-team race for the conference championship.

Carter was very good against Iowa State. Lots of things other than points. Rebounds, Assists, defense, etc.

When I was coaching I really emphasized the positive contributions other than scoring. Knew that I had reached them when they started going to look at the charts rather than the scorebook after the game.

Carter seems a little hesitant at this time. She needs to regain her confidence to drive to the hoop. Teams are concentrating on her more now so she has to make the adjustments to make them pay. Her good passes of the drive against Iowa State were significant in the win.
