Is that true for a cop? I ask because if a cop makes a bad arrest he/she will necessarily move the suspect.
I follow what you are saying but they were not charged for the more serious crimes. That is why I find it odd.
I think the kid that got $500,000 bail for turning himself in is really getting screwed. It seems to me if you turn yourself in you are not a flight risk or not much of a flight risk. I would also like to see society reward people that do the right thing. This kid did the right thing (after he did something wrong). I see him as a prime candidate for a deferred disposition. Pay a fine, make restitution, do some community service and maybe even a weekend or two in jail (to send a message) then probation. If no other crimes, remove it from his record.
I truly believe many 18 year olds could have gotten caught up in that stupidity. I could certainly see myself at that age being an idiot. You just don't think maturely or rationally at that age. We were all impulsive at that age. Perhaps many can honestly say there is no way they would have participated but I don't believe I can say that about myself. Until I was actually in that situation, I am not sure. (At my current age, I can say I would not have been involved)
