Did Capel Save His Job?

1. Any team named Iowa St
2. Any team named Nebraska
3. Most teams named Baylor
4. According to some "haters" MANY of KS teams (of course, that makes JC a horrible coach)

:ez-roll:

ISU has had some talent thru the years, as has Nebraska. Baylor the year they weren't able to play ooc games was a pretty bad team and they were able to beat KSU and Mizzou (one of the final nails for both Wooldridge and Snyder) I think.

Like I said, I am on record of picking us to win 1 conference game, but I wasn't sure where it would come from. However, when I remembered the team that actually went winless had 2 NBA players (we have none) and that our team is on school record pace from behind the arc yet were still losing by double-digits the possibility we could go winless seemed to increase in my mind.

I am glad we avoided it and it's now water under the bridge though.

There are PLENTY of crappy Big XII teams in the past year. Go look at the old standings and you will see what I mean:http://www.big12sports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=10410&ATCLID=1513657

Don't think Vegas would hire you as a statistician.

I thought about this a bit...think about it this way.

If before the season, someone held a gun to your head and said your life depends on picking the right side: Do you think OU will go winless in conference or win 7/8 games?

I believe you'd not want to pick either, but you'd have to think they win ONE game. Right?

Plus, you get to live a few more days since we now know they've won 2 games???:ez-laugh:

I wasn't applying.

I'm guessing you're money would've been on 0. In which you case, you lose. 7 wins is still in the running though.

Wish someone would bump the thread, think I had OU at four or five wins...not by talent but just due to the fact we were going to win a couple eventually given the right circumstance. So many variables come into play. I've personally seen one JUCO team beat another by 60-something points then within a month, LOSE to that same team by single digits. Weirder stuff has happened.

Baylor 98-99 was HORRIBLE...

I didn't realize, but they went 0-16 that year. Man...they were horrible.

All anybody ever mentions when discussing going winless is the 2004 aTm team. I wish somebody had reminded me of the 98/99 Baylor team and I may have felt better about our current situation. :ez-laugh:

Wrong. Had them at four or five (can't remember, need to find the thread). Statistically, the % of winning 7/8 is probably less than 0. Where the hell is DSmok?

That kind of cements my opinion of much of this discussion (for me anyway). We tend to concentrate on what's closest to us (OU) AND most recent (this year).

Heck, remember the Tony Barone coached A&M teams? Some of the Colorado teams were HORRIBLE. It wasn't that long ago that KSU was a doormat as well.

Not at this point for you. In my scenario, you're dead...:facepalm

(well, the zero-win crowd)

Barone was bad, but I always thought KSU had some talent as did CU, just a horrible coach with Ricardo Whatshisname. He always had talent though. He was proof, to me, that you had to have more than talent to compete in college basketball.

They had some occasional talent, but I bet they didn't have more than 1 or 2 players a year that would start at most of the upper-tier Big XII teams in those same years.

Ricardo Patton...Harrison was a first round pick.

True, that's a pretty constrained scenario with really only one outcome. Given that scenario BEFORE the season, still would of taken zero and gone to Vegas on NYE and blown all my money before conference starts.

But as I said before, had four or five W's in the poll taken earlier this year.

Well, then you're not very smart (j/k). You guessed they'd win 5, but you'd not get to see it because you'd be dead.:facepalm
