Dominic Woodson Visits Baylor, Oklahoma Up Next >>> ZagsBlog

Woodson is a talented kid. No doubt. But in the end, I don't think this was a recruitment OU wanted to continue to be involved with.

I think I get your drift. Too bad. We could've used a talented big man. I'm holding out hope for randle but I know the odds are very slim.

So say OU misses out on Randle, would Bolden be back in the picture or who would be some possibilities?

There is a kid from Findley prep that I know we are looking at...

Glad to see you posting, BCSooners!

Kid visits Baylor, drops OU from his list and the decision was apparently mutual.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to speculate on what happened with this kid on his Baylor visit...

Baylor's most recent commitment is from Ishmail Wainright, a former MU commitment who also had a mutual parting of ways after people around him (not his family) allegedly got involved in his recruitment.

The system is a mess...

Maybe Randle called up LK and told him he would be committing this weekend. So LK just told Woodson we wouldn't have a spot for him.

*please be true*

Kruger can coach...but he needs to get an assistant that can recruit. I just don't get how in 3 years, we can't land one consensus top 100 player. I know Buddy Hield cracked rivals top 100...but he couldn't crack Scouts or Espn's.

If we only had Capel *sigh*

Yep, guess he liked those green uniforms.

the family of Ishmail Wainright were all on board for Baylor. The other influences like coaches at Montrose Christian (where Kevin Durant went to school) were aggressively trying to get him to go to Texas. I don't think Baylor got any help from influences outside the family there.

On Woodson, his aunt that is like his mom (think I have this right) lives in Austin. That helps Baylor in this case. I have no other understanding of his situation but I do know that Baylor and NC State coaches were at almost every single one of his games during the summer. OU coaches may have been at a lot also, but they were not the games I saw him. I only saw Baylor and NC State coaches the two games I watched him.

You won't be losing any sleep over not landing him methinks. Time will tell.

From what I have heard, Kruger is doing things the right way. Unfortunately in basketball, that doesn't get most of the top guys. I have heard of more than one recruit that OU parted ways with because money was a topic that was brought up. OU can't afford that and Kruger isn't going to do it. Therefore they part ways.

Perfectly stated.

Why is it, every recruit we don't get...we either cut ties with or we didn't want to pay them? If these kids ask for money, then Kruger should report it.

I'll give you a few we whiffed on this year:

Damion Jones (Vandy)
Karviar Shepherd (TCU)

How do you know he didn't?

It's important to remember that Coach Kruger has to play it close to the vest where recruiting is concerned. He/we can't afford to make another mistake. A recruiting scandal would not only be devastating for our program on the national stage, it's highly likely a third incident in a matter of the last six to seven years would make the death penalty almost a certainty. I'm sure Joe C knows that, which is why he brought in a seasoned coach with an impeccable record like Lon Kruger to run the program.

Bet you could name three to four times that many Capel whiffed on in his last two years. Sure, he signed four burger boys in his time at OU. But three of the four created problems for the team, and for him, at some point of their career. Blake is the only one who didn't.

You won't see us recruiting much against OSU or Baylor. It is way too dirty and LK won't get involved in it.
All you have to know is Marcus Smart wasn't considering OSU and then winds up in Pickens suite for their Thursday night football game last year. He is committed before he leaves campus.
Why did Stevie come home? Travis told his mom I can't do anything out in Vegas too many others are trying to get in on the deal. This IMO only.
