Doolittle

Please dont make such ludicrous statements as "how could anyone not make grades" or the like.

you do NOT know what is going on with all of these kids. no clue what they could be going though. you say those things based on what YOU know or know of. you dont know them.

Okay it's pointless ..everyone is a winner..You're right I don't know what's going on with these players..And I feel for the ones that's gone or going through hard times..But no matter, life isn't fair. I don't believe in the give everyone a ribbon there are no losers that seems to be the norm now.

The worst part of message boards is people making claims and wild assumptions about things they do not understand or know about. Kristian will NOT need to acquire credits/attend JUCO. He will be back in December, and will be eligible immediately.

Although any of us could be blowing out the wrong hole, I believe you. Hopefully Kristian learns from his mistake.

Bad decision by the kid, but easily recoverable. Don't fool yourselves--this team desperately needs Doolittle on the floor. Both short and long-term. Manek has been solid, but no one on the team can provide what Kristian provides when he is on the floor. Those things are simply not replaced. Hopefully, he makes better decisions moving forward, and from what I hear--he will.

Thank you for all the information. I'm pulling for the kid.

Was this a one time incident (plagiarism, cheating)?

Sounds reasonable to me, Postman. Thanks for setting the record straight about Kristian!

These assumptions are usually BS. Is your knowledge an assumption or some insider info? Thanks for the clarification on here. I liked the way he played. Wish we could have him the whole season since we have a tough non-conference schedule, but would rather him take the time to figure out what he needs to do to be eligible moving forward but also have his life in great shape.

I agree.
This is a major failure at all levels. Coaches, Players, Trainers, Support Staff, etc,

To coin a phrase, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

I'm confident he will learn from his mistake.

How could anyone not make grades..

well, let's see ... when my 3yo daughter was raped while I was in law school I had a hard time making grades 3rd semester.

how could anyone be so myopic and self-centered as to make such a statement?

if it is a academic conduct issue he would be allowed back the first day after the semester ends ... which is may have happed to a football player this summer

well hell...ada, shut down the board

if making idiotic statements had been the standard as to whether or not a board existed then it would have been gone long before this group took it over. it's been up much longer than your tenure.

Just to be clear, if he's not allowed to be enrolled at the university, it was probably academic misconduct rather than failing to make grades.

If he was able to maintain his eligibility in the spring, I believe the worst thing that is possible is that he would be ineligible to play in the fall.

As somebody who was placed on academic probation in his time at OU, I can tell you that you get a warning semester after being placed on probation, and then need to keep your GPA above a certain point, before you're straight up kicked out of school. If he was eligible to play in the spring, that means he couldn't have been placed on probation until AFTER the spring, so he would be enrolled in OU, on probation and ineligible to play basketball this fall.

Basically that was just a lot of words to say he probably didn't fail to keep his grades up, he probably got caught cheating.

Nah he needs to play this year. He's too good to redshirt. If he can't make it back by December id honestly rather move on

He's too good to redshirt but not too good to give up on if he can only play half a season?

I have a really solid source that that says that he failed to cite 1 paragraph on a paper. Prof turned him in for plagiarism...which was their right. Obviously, Kristian should have taken care of business better, but hardly an issue that can't be recovered from.

Glad to hear it. Thanks for the info. Postman. I agree...he is a significant player for this team moving forward.

This is a mistake students make far too often. It's so easy to take a shortcut, or it could've even been just an oversight on Kristian's part, but it's still plagiarism. It's a mistake he'll learn from and then he'll be back with the team.

I'm also glad to see OU take a strong stand against plagiarism and also glad that they decided that suspension, rather than expulsion, was appropriate. Give kids a chance to learn from their mistakes. It's an honor code violation but, ultimately, such an easy one to make, even by accident. A warning would've been too light but expulsion too much.
