Doug Gottlieb: Arkansas is a better fit for Buzz than OU

They didn't????

Come on...you know Capel didn't have any experience at a BCS level school. He had been a coach at a mid-major for 4 years before being hired at OU.

Doug said since hiring an unproven mid-major coach failed, human nature is to do the opposite when given the chance to make the choice again. This is why he said he thought OU would go after an experienced coach. Then he listed a guy like Bo Ryan.

Can you read???? The guy I quoted (and the one HE quoted) didn't say a THING about "BCS level school".

I took you guys off of ignore since the firing because your ridiculousness had simmered down a bit. I'm beginning to think you are just an a-hole or a 10 yr old...

plus...what does BCS have to do with basketball? nothing.

Can I read? Can you read is the question?

Here is what I posted in point 4 of the OP for this topic:

4.) Thinks Tad Boyle is in play, but does not believe Joe will go after Shaka Zulu at VCU. Says since OU went after an unproven coach in Capel Joe will probably not make that mistake again and human nature is to do the opposite of something that didn't work. Referenced Bo Ryan as a name that could come up, but hasn't heard the name.

BTW -- if you want to get personal, just put me back on ignore. I would hope you can be civil this time.

plus...what does BCS have to do with basketball? nothing.

BCS level is my term but how else do you separate mid-major's from the big boys?

I must be part aggie because I knew exactly what Doug was referring to when he said "Joe hired an unproven coach the last time and human nature is to do the opposite when faced with the same decision again".

I WASN'T REPLYING TO YOU IN THE POST IN QUESTION!!!

Manage your ignore list and I'll manage mine...sheesh

Either he said on KC radio that neither Arkansas or Mizzou have practice facilities, but both will after the Anderson deal is over. Or the beat writer for Arkansas said this.

So, it sounds like both Mizzou and Arkansas will be building a practice facility in the offseason.

Oh okay... Surprised that neither program has a practice facility... Especially Arkansas.

you call them "the majors" because BCS has nothing to do with it. In fact, quite a few distinctly NON-BCS schools are majors. Has the Atlantic-10 earned a BCS berth yet? They don't even have football teams do they?

I'm sorry...I didn't realize nobody can reply to you except the person who you are replying too.

Thanks for the tip.

OK...that's a good point.

I have it in my mind to refer to the majors as BCS level programs. So, I need to change that.

However, the point still stands that Capel was an unproven coach at the major program level and that is what Doug was referring to.

I'm not sure how you got to this point, but let me break it down for you.

osujeff said: "Well, they didn't last time."

I replied to jeff with: "They didn't?" (implying hired an EXPERIENCED coach)

Somehow you felt the need to inject a different discussion into that...and I'm really not sure why. It had ZERO to do with your OP.

We wouldn't have this confusion in posting if we already had our new coach...

Oh okay... Surprised that neither program has a practice facility... Especially Arkansas.

Both have old arenas that are nicer than some of the Big 12 arenas. Barnhill was supposed to be a great place to see a game before they moved into Walton.

And, Mizzou has the Hearnes Center, but I've heard they sometimes practice in their rec center which is awesome btw. It is in the old fieldhouse they used before the Hearnes Center was built.

And...just remembered, the Hearnes Center is not owned by the University, so maybe they can't use it. It's actually owned by some 3rd party like the Hearnes Foundation or something like that. I don't know if MU had to pay rent or how they split the revenues at the gates/concessions, but I can see why they built a new arena.

The point is, Jeff was not experienced and that was my response. He had coached 4 years at a mid-major just like Barry Collier, Todd Lickliter, Greg McDermott, etc., all of which were mid-major coaches who were either fired at their first Major program or quit before they were to be fired.
