Zero chance McGusty isn't starting next year.

On these basketball visits, do recruits normally play pickup with the team?
Honestly if Egor joins the team, I think he would be perfect as the sixth man. So many times last year we struggled scoring with the second unit. Have to have scorers that come off the bench. I think he can still play 25-30 min a game being sixth man as well. I struggle to believe that Odomes would lose his starting role. He was a great defender this year and only see him getting better. When we were hitting shots from 3, the lanes opened so much for him and he was unstoppable.
Anyone know much about Egor and his defense?
If Egor decided to come, and can give us at a minimum what Tyler Neal gave us his Sr. Year then he will be just fine. Come off the Bench and hit some threes and he has already made the team better
Understand everything from above, but not sure Odomes loses his starting spot instantly, he played great last year. Very physical guard that plays great defense. I just think with substitution patterns Egor could be better at a sixth man role due to scoring power (would be like a Harden as sixth man when he played with the thunder). That doesn't mean at the end he isn't playing because he didn't start.
Tough to convince a kid that started and starred at Rice to come to OU and be a backup/bench guy. Regardless of the minutes he might get. Possible though.

I don't think any of us know whether or not Egor would start. We're all just speculating. To me, Kruger would tell him that he'd be given the opportunity to start and play as much as he deserves to play based on his performance. If he's better than Odomes and James, he'll start and play a lot. If not, he'll come off the bench and play as much as his performance warrants.
I seriously doubt that Kruger will either guarantee him that he'll start or guarantee him that he won't. I'm sure he doesn't know. Kruger is nothing if not honest. I'm sure he'll tell him he'll be given the opportunity to beat out Odomes and, if he can't, he'll come off the bench. Hopefully that'll be good for him because there's no doubt he can help the team, whether that's staying and playing 30 minutes a game or coming off the bench.
