Egor Koulechov Visiting

I mean you can't blame him but I was hoping with the Rice coach on our staff it would all fall into place quickly. Wonder how many he's going to take?

Not good. Really need his shooting next year. Hopefully he ends up in Norman.

We really need someone that can make the 3 consistently....it changes what the defense can do to us.

Come on in Egor!

Who wouldnt want a free trip to florida? Id take all 5 visits. Soak it up, come home. Him and TY hit it off. I think we'll be ok. (no inside info...) Working on real intel.

It's certainly not the end of the world, but not closing the deal is always a bad sign. We've seen this in a strong way in football recruiting this year.

This situation is completely different and has little relation to most recruiting stories.

This kid is making decisions between a little more exposure to enhance his playing ops after college or just having this one last season to experience some successes he hasn't had yet. His goals are on a much different timetable and more focused. Like that old Xavier forward who was signing with good teams at the end of his career - it think it was david west. It's probably more beneficial for him to be the key piece in an already established good team like KD to Golden State. But, maybe he wants a family thing and he likes coach lon and his open style? meh, who knows. We could certainly use him and he could help us a lot, but for him we may not be the best choice.

we failed to close the deal in a strong way for football recruiting this year?

I don't know about this year, but Eielson is right to an extent. More often than not it's an advantage to get them last. There's always the guys who silent commit, know where they're going and just "have fun". But it's like the guys who verbally commit and say they're just taking visits for fun. It's not like the other schools who are paying for these visits are saying "OK, come on down here to Gainesville and enjoy yourself. We understand you want to go to OU, we'll leave you alone! Just eat free food, hang out with our chicks, and do whatever you want, just enjoy yourself!" Right. These young guys have short term memories and many of them love the latest thing that happens to them. And while they're on these campuses, the schools are doing EVERYTHING they can to convince them to sign. So, if this guy really wants to go to OU then great and I hope he does, but i've seen this story many times before. I'll be happy to be wrong on this one!

Especially when you've got a familiar face on staff in Coach Hartman.

He may still pick OU and I hope he does, but I can't deny that I was disappointed to learn he didn't commit before he left campus.

Stoops just signed literally the best class almost a decade.

He'll be on his 3rd school when he chooses so I'm sure he just wants to make sure he gets the decision right. It says something that he wanted to visit OU first. I'm sure he needs something to compare it to. Hopefully he was comfortable enough with the staff, the players, the university, the system, his role, and the team's potential to reel him in.

it's like someone is bringing me a banana split and it MIGHT have extra cherries if they remember. either way I am extremely happy anyway.

Sounds like his visit to OU couldn't have been better. Trip to Florida to validate his feelings on OU....plans to only take 2 visits?

Maybe we have a better shot than some think!!

I always like OU to be the last place a recruit or transfer visits, but when we're not and the recruit doesn't commit to us while in Norman, it by no means he won't commit to us later. It may simply that be that he decided in advance that he was going to take all his visits, no matter what.

All good points on the reasons to be optimistic! I'm there with you. Guess I just got my hopes up too high that Egor would commit during his visit.

Does anyone remember the last recruit that actually did commit on their Visit? Excluding some small hometown kid who was just happy to get an offer.

We make a lot of fuss about kids not committing on their visit, but to my recollection it is not common for this to happen. "Usually" it is a day or two later at the earliest.

Are there any articles out with him since the visit?

I think there's a difference between a HS recruit and a player like this though. Grad transfers usually don't take a ton of visits.

LK doesn't pressure. He wants kids here that want to be here.

He is also considering Iowa State and Villanova. We could sure use him but we aren't the only ones pursuing him.
