FBI Issues Charges in NEW College Scandal

This one is different. Parents bribing minor sport schools to get their kids into the school as walk-ons for the sport under the lessened standards for athletes.

Likely a women's volleyball or a track coach going down for this one, no football/basketball.

I read where it was rowing & even smaller sports.

I wonder if the fake charity mentioned in the next-to-last paragraph is the Human Fund, i.e., George Costanza's fake charity.

One of the complaints was a kid posing as a long snapper for the football team so some football and basketball coaches could be involved

Former AD for USC reportedly took $1.3 million in bribes.

Again, people thinking OU never does this are dead wrong. They just haven't gotten caught. Every marginal program cheats.

Ok? Still seems like some schools are constantly getting caught on the bigger scandals.

If you think the elites aren’t cheating then you’re fooling yourself. KU, duke, Kentucky, are paying whatever is needed to outbid everyone else. They’re ****ing dirty. If they get away with it, so should everyone else.

I don’t have a problem paying players. I have a problem with hypocrisy. You can’t ignore some while penalizing others. We need a level playing field. If duke and Kansas can buy players, Oklahoma and everyone else should be able to buy players. You can’t punish OU for text messages and pasta while duke and Kansas are paying everyone under the sun to get the best players. That’s hypocritical and that’s where I call bull****.

Make the rules the same for every team and enforce them. That is all I ask

Might be wrong but I think the implication is all schools have dirty hands (and socks).

Dang...my daughter walked-on at KU for row and made it...I didn't pay a dime...

Course KU isnt in the same boat as usc...lol.

One of my favorites pays $600,000 to get her girls into USC? She could have simply made a couple of personal appearances, and they would have given both scholarships.

There have been people in multiple sports that are listed as signed letter of intent with the implication they are on scholarship over the years. They weren't but the family could pretend that they were. They were walkons but the family could walk around saying they got a scholarship. I have no idea if any of them paid a coach or donated to the program for this to happen.

I just skimmed the article I saw earlier today but the issue seemed to be that the students couldn't qualify academically for the schools unless they were an 'athlete' so the parents bought them a walk-on position. Some of them never even participated in any way in their 'sport'.

Yes, but my point is, all schools are dirty but some are punished while others are allowed free reign. That’s the problem. Schools such as UNC, duke, ku, UK aren’t held accountable and the ncaa turns a blind eye to their cheating while showing no mercy to others.
