Football question

It wasn't working and we kept trying...... the playcalling was frustrating to me.

extremely frustrating.
i don't think a called mateer run on first down is the way to go. or even second and long.
give the ball to x or blaylock in those situations.....that's what we pay them for.
mateer should run on 2nd/3rd and short.
running mateer behind x on first and 10 shows zero confidence in the o-line.
and speaking of x....did blaylock get hurt or did demarco/arbuckle just suddenly have an epiphany and decide he's the best back?
i don't have a problem with x.....but he should have been given opportunities much earlier in the season imo.

Arbuckle is clueless right now. He really doesn’t know what to do.
Hes out of his league and should consider ubering again.. hes not a P4 offensive coordinator at all. Hes approaching littrell status possibly this year.

Arbuckle lost this game. His play calling is not good enough. He should call short underneath throws. Not utilizing our tight end and running back for those short underneath play.
To be fair our TEs suc and we misuse kanak. But Helms did step up and block a little to be fair, after he gave up the safety, that is..

Mateer should only have designed runs on draw plays imo. Course we never do those..

I’m glad you mentioned the decision to go for two. Not sure why teams chase points before the fourth quarter, especially when you’re leading. The play call actually worked but of course Mateer threw a lawn dart.

I don’t agree that we are almost there, though. We are pretty much the same place where we have been for four years. Same mistakes at the same critical moments. Haven’t really made any progress there, and still not nearly enough difference makers on offense. And I think today confirmed what I feared: the defense is good. It isn’t elite.
Agree on 2 pt conversions. It’s so dumb

Curious what defenses you consider elite this year

what a week to lose.

bama texas looking like they might lose. We needed today!

I hate rain... its depressing

S. Carolina would be up two scores right now on Bama if they hadn’t gone for two in the third quarter. I am in favor of being aggressive on offense but the 2-pt stuff is reckless a lot of times.

There honestly may not be any. Ohio State might have a claim but they haven’t exactly played a great schedule. With respect to OU, I just think we have too many plays where we completely lose WRs. Our defense gave up a lot of big plays today but it should have been so much worse. Ole Miss missed that easy TD throw on the goal line and also had the tight end wide open on the third and short from midfield. Same thing against Auburn … if Arnold was a more accurate passer, they likely would have had two or three walk-in touchdowns. I know every defense is going to give up some plays, but we really struggle there. When teams can handle our pass rush, we get confused and burned a lot. Don’t get me wrong, the defense is good. Probably really good.

Every week in college football, you see the really good, well-coached teams make winning plays. Bama was on the ropes, scored when they had to, then dialed up a great two-point play to tie it. Then their defense does something that apparently is allowed … they forced a turnover!!

I will give the Vandy guy props for allowing Bama to score the touchdown just now. It won’t end up mattering but at least he gave his offense a chance to get the ball back.

Jackson Arnold got benched today

Somehow he has been worse this year (statewise) than last year

And don’t look now, but Mateer is not doing any better

Really disgusting

The two worst SEC qbs at one point have been OU guys. Just wild.
