Football question

And yet we beat Michigan fairly easily while not bringing our A game, and beat a solid Auburn team, again, without playing our A game.

texas hasn't beaten a P4 team yet. We've beaten two of them. And you all still want to complain.
Have we brought our A game at all this year?
That is the problem.

I don't think Auburn is very good. We very easily could have lost that game at home.
Texas A&M made their defense not look very good.

I don't htink Michigan is the world beater we thought either.

Pointing out concerning deficiencies in a team is not complaining.
I'm very happy with the year so far. I'm just concerned with our lack of running game with the meat of our schedule coming up

i don't think this is accurate at all ..
We play five top 15 teams the rest of the way, plus Texas and South Carolina. Which of those teams would you say Auburn is better than? Texas has greatly underachieved but if those two teams were playing this week on a neutral field, there is no question Texas would be favored. Heck, they are favored over us (btw, I saw a tweet that said with Mateer, Texas will likely be a 1.5 point favorite, and without him, it would likely be around 5 pts). Maybe you could argue Auburn over South Carolina, but the fact that game will be on the road means it will be a tougher game for us than Auburn was IMHO.

I will admit that I can't get a great read on Michigan. As talented as their QB is, he is young and their offense has not been very good so far. We also got them in his second career game, at home. Again, maybe you could argue they are better than South Carolina, but the location and timing of the game matters.

Still hearing the OL is banged up. Howland suffered another high ankle sprain so he’s probably out. Fasusi is still not 100% although he played last week. I don’t know what’s going on with Simmons but he looked solid against Auburn and Michigan, then looked like he was lost against Kent st., Maybe something limiting his lateral movement. Idk.

The injury excuse is the only thing saving BB’s job lol. “We gotta see him coach a fully healthy unit.”

But the injury bug that has plagued the oline the last two years is unlike anything I remember for an OU team in my 20 years of being a fan.

I don't think this season is anything unusual at all. I bet in the entire country, all 700 or so starting offensive linemen are playing through pain/injuries. All five starters played last week against Kent State, which is a clear indication they are more than fine. If the line doesn't play well Saturday, it isn't because of their health.

they didn't work on kent st at all and came out flat .. it happens ..

the starting 5 online is healthy .. simmons didn't play well (against much worse players then auburn and michigan) he will be fine vs texas ..

They were also VERY vanilla in their game plan. On defense, I literally saw a 3rd down play where Stone and Halton literally just stood up at the snap and basically stood there. You won't convince me that stuff like that isn't done intentionally to work on things we (as fans) aren't seeing. If they are doing that on defense, they are doing it on offense.

Do I wish we had an OL good enough to maul Kent State with even the vanilla-est of vanilla game plans? Sure. But we don't have that. Doesn't mean we can't win a lot of games.

We were 6-6 last year and lost to Navy in our bowl games, and some of you are unhappy we don't look like a national championship contender. Blows my mind.

We'll see how all of those teams look.

Obviously @Tenn is going to be tough, but they've looked very beatable several times this year.

I'm not sold that Mizzou is as good as their record and stats.

LSU has struggled.

I think Ole Miss is overrated as well.

Not saying any of those teams stink, they don't, but Mizzou and Ole Miss are worse than they were last year, and we could (should) have won both of those games.

What hurts right now is that Mateer didn't get the last couple of weeks to continue gelling with the team and receivers. The offense needs to take a step forward, and I think they were starting to do that in the 2nd half of the Auburn game, even with our QB having a broken hand. But now we've given up 2-3 weeks, at least, of development time.

Nobodies unhappy

Mateer listed as probable. It looks like he’s gonna play.
So much for my prediction a couple weeks back that it would be next to impossible for him to be ready for Texas. If he can go, I'm ecstatic to be wrong. I just don't want the injury to be re-aggravated because he came back too soon. We have a shot at the playoffs even with a loss to Texas if Mateer is healthy for the remainder of the season.

Because of that news....OU is now a 1.5 favorite on Fanduel. I wonder if the line will keep getting steamed towards OU. Professional money came in on OU after the announcement.

Yeah, texas will be punching at that hand more than the ball.
