Football question

No the defense played fine. Not lights out but fine.
Eh. They couldn’t get off the field on third down, missed key tackles, and rarely touched Manning even though his line sucks. Obviously the defense wasn’t nearly our biggest issue but it was a very disappointing game from them. Can’t come out and play that way after giving yourself a nickname.

This being the perfect example of how some fans can watch a complete coaching debacle and somehow not hold the coach accountable.

He needed to snap the ball and run the play. Instead he looked around like he hadn't taken a snap in 3 weeks, wasted 10 seconds, and then called a timeout at the worst possible time.

This game was a train wreck waiting to happen from the second Mateer broke his hand. I predicted we win 13-10 with a pick-6. Literally nobody expected our offense to thrive in these circumstances.

Maybe we suck. Maybe we don't. But at least let us play a conference with a healthy QB who takes snaps before the game before doing a victory dance.

Honest question: is there a single position group where our offense isn’t below average? What do we do well? Again, we look no better right now than we did with Jackson Arnold and a bunch of stiffs last season. Mateer is a good player but a fairly average quarterback, but has to more or less do everything because we couldn’t run the ball against a high school defense.
Hard to say after this game what our best group is. Play calling is a mystery to me. How many times did we run pass plays with 2 receivers within 2 yards of each other. Pathetic

Agreed.

Reminder that Hawkins had a better passer rating than 5 of mateers starts

He’s Trevor knight reincarnated

Can't come out and give up 16 points? What a joke.

Texas has every bit as much if not more talent on offense than we have on defense. Sark had several weeks to prepare, as he obviously didn't prep for UF.

Offense needed to score 17 points and we win. We'll take that every time. Instead our offense played like the QB has a messed up hand and hasn't practiced in 3 weeks. This is not the game to make judgements on.

You don’t think Texas planned for Florida?

If the hand was that big of an issue, he shouldn’t have been playing

He’s been bad all year

We just are going to have to accept that the Glory Days of Sooner football are long over, unfortunately. Even though I hate the guy but the moment Riley left was the moment those times ended, even though he never won the big one. It's unfortunate, but we have to face the fact we got out coats today and will continue to do so with the current staff. Texas simply owns us right now... Maybe Mateer will improve, but that o-line sure isn't going to

We were done before Riley

This. OU will be the next Nebraska. Buckle in. It’s going to be a long couple of seasons.

Oh I wish that were true but we will be stuck with him. People will use the Mateer situation as an excuse. Brent could take a dump at midfield and he would still have the support of a lot of folks. I’m sure somehow this result is because Lincoln left the program in a bad position lol.

It’s truly amazing how clueless the people who cover this team are. Every single thing that happened today on offense was apparent for weeks. But we kept being told how solid this team is. How much the talent level has increased. Four games against Texas. Three games in which they haven’t scored a TD unless they get a garage time score today. Just total ineptitude.

I wish they would eat the buyout and throw every leftover penny at Indiana’s coach. It would be so refreshing to see a well coached, disciplined team. Instead we have a bonehead who talks about how many “dawgs” we have.
You clearly hate BV and want another coach, even a 65 yr old guy that is in the B1G, who probably couldn’t recruit or win in the SEC. Then what? Fire him and hire the next flavor the moment?

You’re transparent in your hate for BV and are always negative about OU, in football or basketball. You’re just a negative, hateful person that enjoys OU losing.

Didn't help that Burks zigged back to the NE corner at the exact second Mateer released the ball to lead him toward the NW corner.
Very impressive performance in the second half by the Longhorns. What they did to us in the third quarter was so deflating. Back to the drawing board.

I don’t hate Brent. I don’t know him. Have never spent a single second thinking about him personally.

As for my hate for OU, miss me when that garbage. I’ve spend more time and money and emotional energy on this athletic department than I’d care to admit. And I’m the same guy who was laughed at for years on this board for being a homer for many years. When our coach sucks and is clearly in over his head, I’m going to say that. For those of you who are seemingly ok with hoping to win 7 or 8 games … that’s your choice. If you want to talk about what a great person Brent is because he gives a good quote to the media, knock yourselves out. He is a terrible head coach. His theoretical best team ever just got whipped in all three phases and was apparently so flat emotionally that even the radio crew noticed it in real time. Big Tex could have coached a better game today.

OU admin has basically accepted mediocrity. BV and staff will get raises and extensions, which are cheaper than just starting from scratch, which is what is needed.

I honestly don’t know if that’s true. The administration did a lot this offseason. Spent big money on players and a new OC who was drawing interest from other schools. Hired a GM and staff to try to take a lot off Brent’s plate. Brent has everything he needs to succeed. He just doesn’t know what he is doing. Now, if they bring him back next season if/when this season derails (people were asking a week or two ago where we would lose more than three games, but the better question is where we will get more than a couple wins), then the AD and president will deserve all kinds of heat.

I really didn't like the decision at the end of the first half. Yeah, 9 points on fg's is bad. but our guy has been really good and someday he will miss but until that day, dance with him.

no second half points and turnovers in Dallas gets you beat every time.

losing to Texas always sucks.
