Football question

Kevin Wilson? LOL. No.

kevin wilson is an offensive genius.
he has more creativity in his little toe than arbuckle has in his entire body.
i really have no idea why ou is paying guys like wilson because they're obviously not using him in any meaningful way.

The offense is just limited by what it has. WRs that mostly can't separate. RBs that are injured or checked out. Barnes and Ott want out. Everyone else is injured.

not buyin what you're sellin..
mateer is mostly garbage but if you take away his decision making and call short quick hitting routes....he's capable of making those throws.
we saw that briefly today.
unfortunately....arbuckle who is also mostly garbage...doesn't stick with what mateer does best.
he actually/apparently called a deep fade on 3rd and 2 at midfield.....a throw that mateer just can't make....ever.
i know x is dinged up but a 3 yd run on first down is better than an incompletion on a throw mateer can't make....especially when we needed to run some clock in the 4th quarter.
yeah...we seem to be screwed at rb. but x was out there...and never touched the ball in the 1st quarter. why not? well we only ran 6 plays but still no excuse.

This is the ultimate example of “multiple things can be true.” The offensive talent isn’t nearly where it needs to be. The quarterback isn’t good enough to make the WRs look better than they are. The head coach hasn’t helped things with his staff decisions and by directing so much of the NIL money to the defense. And the OC isn’t doing his part to mitigate some of the deficiencies.

One specific thing I’m wondering: Sategna legitimately does have elite speed (for a football player, I hate when people say world class speed as if a WR or DB could run in the Olympics). How can you not find more ways to get him the ball in space? Maybe they try and Mateer just misses him. I know they have occasionally tried screens and Burks just can’t block. But man they have to figure something out. Speaking of Burks, there might not be a bigger bust. I have no idea how he has fallen off so much since Purdue. He can’t separate, can’t get open, can’t make guys miss when he does catch a pass. And I don’t want to hear about injuries. He’s been healthy all season. Football players get injured all the time and once they are healthy, they generally don’t come back as a shell of themselves. But that seems to be what happens to our guys.

Getting some help from Tennessee and Michigan today. Would be nice if Mizzou manages to stay in the top 25 but that might be unlikely. I don’t know how much separation the committee felt there was between us and ND coming into the day. Our resume is way better, but the eye test favors them because they are good on both sides of the ball, and the committee usually emphasizes that. It will be crazy on one hand to drop behind them after a ranked win while they played another awful team, but their logic is hard to predict.
