Football question

FTR - I believe you did say that Owen had no case bc what he was asking for was supposedly unprecedented.

But that's the thing...there WAS a precedent. Which was discussed in court, but I didn't go to law school 200 years ago like John Marshall so I probably look like an idiot even discussing these things.

i did not think he had any real case at all until the filing this week .. that was a big deal ..
also i thought he still had a chance to win because of a local judge ..

the NCAA has actually won the huge majority of these cases .. they have lost 15 of 75 cases ..

and that came out in the most recent filing before the hearing ..

A lot of information with the filings came to light this week that had a lot of us thinking Owen would get a favorable ruling. Before that, I didn’t have much hope. Good job of fact finding by the lawyers and building a case.

Yeah, it's not bad journalism that optimism was low and then picked up recently. As new information comes to light, opinions SHOULD change. It's telling that Wichita thinks you have to dig your heels in and stick to your opinion from 3 months ago regardless of new information. Explains why he still thinks our football only won 6 games.

Dezephan Walker looks like a dude that can help us. Hatton looks good. Of course we see this every spring and then never see that player again so, we will see. The run game has clearly been emphasized, finally. The TE group is clearly different and capable. OL is finally being allowed to attack, it appears, instead of waiting and catching defenders. A strong run game with viable TE weapons takes the offense to another level and takes a lot of pressure off the QB. Very encouraging.

Spring reports are mostly hogwash for all programs, but over the years, our RB reports have been relatively decent that I can recall. There are a few examples like JD Runnels calling Majors the next Adrian Peterson, but the overall sentiment for him otherwise wasn't all that high.

Yikes runnels.. of course I think he has sold his credibility based on some other things hes said... Major played football on roller skates. A slight wind could knock him over

Also, most millwood players are busts bc they are a fake 2A school. That said, I would still take them every year if they are highly rated for our state. But there was a secondary player josh something turner? That went to tejas and he never even played

youtube keeps trying to trick me to watch 1978 OU-Bugeater.

But I am not going to do it though El Diablo does make me want to see that Thomas Lott, Billy, David Overstreet, Kenny King backfield....

Billy is one play from being the Heisman twice. Charles White was a very good college player but was not in Billy's league.

edit:

minor payback

I used to love the way Switzer would say home towns on his replay show, David Overstreet from *Big Sandy Texas*

I loved Runnels as a player, but his sports media career was unimpressive.

Congrats to R Mason Thomas being the first Sooner off the board in the NFL Draft. He went to the KC Chiefs in the 2nd round. The last time the Chiefs took a Sooner in the 2nd round was a guy named Creed Humphrey. I'd say that picked worked out well for them :-).

No guarantees another Sooner gets picked tonight. If one does, it will be either WR Deion Burks or DT Gracen Halton. Both are projected as a 3rd / 4th round pick. Halton tested very well and moved up the draft boards. I'm just not sure his college tape warrants a 3rd round pick. A few others will hear their names called tomorrow.

Burks and Halton will have to wait until tomorrow to get their names called. Robert Spears-Jennings and Febechi Nwaiwu will likely get their names called as well. Perhaps someone like Jared Kanek or Kendal Daniels sneaks into the 7th round, but I'm not holding my breath. Part of me is glad that no one was picked in Round 3. It has been a crazy round for NFL Sooners this century. With a 3rd round pick, a team AT LEAST wants to get a player who develops into a solid starter for a handful of years. OU has had 20 3rd round picks this century and NOT ONE would be drafted in the 3rd round in a hindsight re-draft. Three would be 1st round picks - DeMarco Murray, Mark Andrews and Orlando Brown Jr. No 2nd or 3rd round picks...everyone else Round 4-7 or undrafted. That's not normal.

I sure hope this is the last year for a long time that we only have one guy drafted in the first three rounds. We won’t compete for championships till that changes.
