Fran on the 10 second call

No. It used to but they changed that rule. If there's under 15 seconds on the shot clock it resets to 15 but otherwise, it stays where it was.

Not the shot clock, the 10 seconds to get it across half court. So when we inbounded after it we crossed half court at 19 or 20 when we had until 17

The 10 second count was changed this year. It used to be that the 10 seconds started over at any stoppage (e.g. teams would call a timeout if they were in danger of getting it across the line, and it would start over when then in-bounded it). Now you get 10 total seconds to get it across. Period.

There has to be exceptions to this rule. The defense can't have the opportunity to intentionally make some sort of violation i.e. Kicked ball to put the offense In a bad situation.

They can't and that's why our count restarted even though the shot clock showed 27. We had until 17 to get it across and we got it across at 20. No Violation.

I'm sure you're right about that. And, like you said, we got the ball across at 20 anyway, so no problem. Fran and and that play-by-play guy were simply wrong -- and bad -- all day.
