From the LNC

BTW, a top 10 team this year and not one local media type bothered to cover this scrimmage.

The local media coverage of OU basketball makes me sick. Almost as sick as the constant pumping of the Thunder. If they want to pump both or neither, I could see it, but to put the Thunder sooooooooooo far ahead of a preseason top 10 Sooner hoops squad really irritates me.

I feel like OU basketball is on the verge of something great with all the recruits on campus and preseason ranking. Last years finish too.

But with most of our good players being seniors and not a whole lot of "stud" youngins on campus (we got a few potential ones but we really don't know). I'm a little pessimistic about after this season.

And as far as this season goes, the AK news is really terrible if he can't get healthy and up to speed. Lattin must step up otherwise we're going to be limited if Spangler is our starting center.

It's sickening, but I guess we shouldn't be surprised. If they can't hype OSU as "the basketball school" in the state, they'd rather just downplay D-1 basketball for as long as they can.

Also, not a peep about it on the official OU website.

I agree with the complaints about local media coverage of OU basketball. It should be better. Much better. To be fair, the "sports news" this past weekend was overshadowed by the tragic events at the OSU football homecoming parade. I cannot imagine what those families are going through.

I'm so sick of the non stop Thunder coverage and almost no college basketball coverage. They are the NBA and deserve a bunch of coverage but it is year round and the same thing over and over.

Prep schools have certainly taken a huge hit on the jucos although there are still a few players to be had.

Nobody who knew anything about juco recruiting thought Chris Walker was a player. He played at the equivalent of div. 2 juco ball. Kelvin just struck out on a bunch of other guys that year.

I would argue that prep schools are the new jucos. Transfers are going to still be there, but they cut out the "immediate eligibility" provisions unless they have already graduated.

That's true as well, I just hate prep schools because they still group them with HS players when they are generally a year older but still get 4 years to play college. If you aren't academically eligible and choose to go to prep school instead of juco I think it should take away a year of eligibility.

Yesterday was my first time back in the LNC in several years after being a 20 year plus season ticket holder. IMO, Past the obvious starting 5, Buford looked like a player. James didn't look ready to me. Unless he's a star in waiting, I'd redshirt Manyang. He's going to be way behind and Lattin looks good enough. What about Odomes? He looks the part. What has anyone observed about his skills

Glad to see you back in the LNC. Hope you can make it to some games this year.
