Future of Moser

Fair points. But I think a lot of the Joe C bashing has to do with the fact that he hasn’t moved on from Moser. I think people would be praising Joe C for doing what needs to be done for the program if he fired Moser.
Eh, it has more to do with the fact he isn't doing his part for the program. A new arena is a couple hundred million dollars, but we've found over half a billion dollars to spend on football facilities in the past 6-7 years. No attempts made to keep KT Turner or Emmanuel Dildy, but a new contract can get approved for Demarco overnight when he starts flirting with Ohio State. Even if he fires Moser tomorrow, the program has had the same ceiling for the past 8 years. Is Joe C willing to make meaningful investments to change that? Doesn't seem like it. If the Norman city council votes against the new arena, then what?

Football is god so I get the focus/easier fundraising but at the same time, seems like more could be done (a competent collective would be a start).

Joe C. has made an entire legacy off of walking on the job to Kelvin Sampson and John Blake's recruits. He is a dimishing returns AD at this point.

Focusing solely on low hanging fruit, i.e. softball.

Porter is a dead man walking. No way he makes the tourney two years in a row. (And that is what it will take to stay employed).
Blake recruits is not a real thing

Im angry with Joe because he walked into a proud bball program and proceeded to kill it with indifference and the football crowd could care less.

His MO for non football sports is to make a hire then hope thats enough. His home run win in football was Bob, but Bob hired everyone else (Riley, BV) .. and while he seems great at raising money you could also employ a crimson dog as our AD and people would still drive by and throw money at our football team.

Joe isn't above criticism, including when it comes to men's basketball. But a lot of this is just nonsense.

He hasn't killed the basketball program, that's just hyperbolic. And criticizing him for not meddling in the hiring of assistant football coaches has no validity.

And he is very good at raising money, as that's a massive part of what an effective AD does. And I think he's done a very good job at doing that for non-football sports as well, along with making several home run hires for men's and women's teams over the last two decades.

Blake's recruits were more than half the 2000 starters and OU was never able to recreate that magic under Stoops or Joe C.

The argument is more than valid.

I mean that Bob found, raised and essentially hired the football head coaches. Joe just had to sign the contracts.

The magic of being lucky enough to win a NC?

OU fielded much better teams under Bob than that 2000 team, they just didn't happen to win NC's.

Really dumb argument. Sorry, it just is. And are you sure about your "more than half" statement? I know there were several, but I wasn't thinking it was over half. Doesn't change my opinion either way though.

I’m not sure how legit Roy was either. I highly doubt they’d have even taken a shot at him had it not been for his aunt (who worked in the OU cafe) getting after Dickinson about him. Sometimes you just get lucky.

Roy's aunt worked at OU. Damien Mackey also came here with Roy. I think they were going to go to UCLA but Mack Brown went to Texas if I'm not mistaken.

yep Ontei was really the one other blake guy of course he was playing LBer under blake ..

most of the other back ups were also either stoops recruits or oklahoma kids ..

mack went to texas from north carolina ..
That's right I know they wanted to go to UCLA but there was a coaching change. Don't remember who. It may have been Cal now that I think about it but I know it was a California school.

I mean that Bob found, raised and essentially hired the football head coaches. Joe just had to sign the contracts.

No he didn't. Lincoln and BV had never been head coaches before OU, there was no head coaching track record to pick over. Joe had to go out on a limb and take a chance on those two guys. They were great assistants at OU but Joe C hired them to be head coaches.

Nope. Look at the product on the field.

Obviously they were more than half the recruits...Blake was in the job for the 3 years prior. The WORST 3 year history of OU football. I was in grad school in Norman at the time. Blake's teams were a joke!!! Against Nebraska, he ran out 3 different QBs in one series that did not earn a first down. Stoops turned these recruits into National Champions.

This argument is garbage, at best!

James madison's coach is way better than BM too. Add him to a watch list for next year
