There is a youtube game where Grandview played in the state semi-finals last year. Vionese scored a ton and got a lot of rebounds and may have had a triple double with points, rebounds and blocks.

She is big, strong, appears to be pretty athletic, and has a nice touch 5-10 feet away. Scored almost everytime she got the ball. She was also quick to grab a defensive board and hit a guard at midcourt with pretty accurate throws. Her passing from the post was also good.

On the negative side she didn't play with a lot of intensity and aggressiveness. Was a close game and she played all of it. Could have been pacing herself. Didn't cross half court a number of times when the ball went to the other end. She wasn't the defensive presence in the middle that I expected even though she did get a lot of blocks. The other team didn't avoid the paint or alter their shots. Most of her blocks were from blocking close in shots by the player she was guarding or someone who had just captured an offensive rebound.

They also have a pretty slick point guard named Petithomme.

Thanks for the review. if most of her blocks were against the player she was guarding, then it sounds like she could be an excellent defender. Most players are weak side defenders because it's much harder to go straight up and block a shot.

Gabbi Ortiz continues to have an excellent senior year:

Gabbi Ortiz hit 5 three-pointers and scored 32 points to lead Racine Prairie to a 56-50 victory over previously undefeated Wilmot.

Vionese is leading her team to be ranked #1 in Florida Class 2A:

Defending Class 7A state runner-up Nova looks to have some tough competition locally in its quest to return to the girls’ basketball state finals this spring.

Undefeated Dwyer (8-0) and Palm Beach Lakes (10-0) are ranked No. 1 and 2 in 7A in this week’s Florida Association of Basketball Coaches (FABC) and Source Hoops state poll, with Nova (7-1) at No. 6.

Meanwhile, two other teams from Broward and Palm Beach counties are ranked No. 1 in their respective classifications: Dillard (9-0, 5A) and Grandview Prep (7-0, 2A).

Gabbi Ortiz again has another big game leading The Prairie School to a win:

■ Gabbi Oritz hit 4 threes, was 5 for 6 from the line and scored 29 points for Racine Prairie, a 65-38 winner over Burlington.

Another huge game for Viosese:

GRANDVIEW PREP 87, ZION LUTHERAN 66

ZL (8-2): Lett 2-1-5, Pauyo 3-0-6, B. Battle 7-1-5-20, T. Battle 4-2-0-10, K. Battle 8-2-7-25

@ChelseaDungee22 congrats on the 52pts!! Keep working girl!!

At the Duke game I saw Jo'Nah sitting directly behind Chelsea. Chelsea was there with her mom and dad...Jo'nah was there with her mom and brother and mom did a lot of cheering for OU.

LaNeisha William's NE Academy team was beaten by Byng 39-34...LaNeisha scored 22

Maddie congratulates Chelsea and Gabbi:

Ninth-ranked Racine Prairie got 23 points from Gabbi Ortiz in a 48-32 triumph over Whitefish Bay Dominican.

Northeast beat Southeast 60-43 with LaNeisha Williams scoring 37.

Great to hear! I think LaNeisha is going to be a surprise to us all. I watched the Northeast state title game on TV last year and I thought LaNeisha was significantly better than T'Ona. T'Ona has surprised me with her abilities so far (except scoring). I don't see where LaNeisha will be starting (but that's for her to prove) but she will provide excellent depth at guard position (probably 1 or 2). Glad she's a Sooner!

LaNeisha must not have much help this year. They went 0-3 in the Harrah Tourney last week.
