GAME 21 - OKLAHOMA (16-5) @ #1 AUBURN (20-1) 8:00pm CST on SEC NETWORK

I'd kill for a McNease on this team. He was kind of a goofball but he had some really good flashes. Including outplaying Texas' centers a few times, guys that were good and were drafted. 6-10, really good athleticism, decent size..

The one time I was able to attend a practice was early in McNeace's career, and I was so impressed with his athleticism. I was convinced he was going to be a star. He had his moments but didn't live up to what I thought he would be based on what I saw that day.

Muni still making bank overseas.
Thats good for him. I only really care what he did at OU (unless he were in the nba).

I was curious so i tried to find his contract and can't find anything. Looks like somewhere between 80-200k/year. I thought I saw that cholet only has a total budget of 1.6 million to pay all of its players (17 players). Idk if that is correct. But if so, it might not be making "bank". Looks like he is the 9th man in rotation

I was too. My bold prediction was that he was going to wayyy surpass lattin. He didn't really. But maybe it was close technically bc lattin really leveled off

The thing is I don't think McNease was that highly recruited. It appeared to be a tremendous evaluation "steal" by Lon and his staff. No, I don't think he really lived up to what I hoped either but he was a helluva lot better than what we have now.

Athletically/size he's way better.

But he suffered from the same mental/soft/out of control mistakes our current bigs suffer from

I'd happily sign on for $200k and the chance to see a bit of the world. Heck, I'd happily sign on for the $80k. And if I were in my twenties? Heck, yeah.

Bw 80-200k is bank for 4-5months hooping. No expenses but sure go off.

Idk why you are so snippy all of the time, but okay. Napoleon complex from coaching 2A girls?

200k is probably bank. But considering he's apparently 9th/17th. Logically he's probably in the middle range so like 100k (assuming that range was even accurate).

And to your point, I think it's funny you think the profession of basketball is only 4-5 months out of the year. Is he just fishing the rest of the year? Def not training (i.e., working)..

Fyi - you're presumably wayyy too old to say "but sure go off." Lol. Do you say "full stop" and "cap" too. **Inserts "hello how do you do fellow kids?" Meme**

Also, what does no expenses mean? Is it free to live in other countries? Food, clothing, etc -- it is paradise!!

That looks good at first blush but after taxes and expenses, it’s not life changing money. It’s nice work if you can get it and I’d surely take it, but it’s not life changing. The experience and travel would be worth it tho.

I agree but it's also tough to be away from your family and friends, and if you are in a non-English speaking country, that's another factor. I follow volleyball somewhat, and there is a new women's pro league in the US that features a lot of our Olympians and other top players. I have heard a lot of them talk about how nice it is to finally be able to play in America. They enjoyed the experiences they got overseas, but it wore on them being away from friends and family for more than half the year and constantly jumping from team to team and country to country.

generally in overseas leagues .. you get your full contract and the team pays for housing food ect .. on top of that ..
I think that has to vary quite a bit -- in a lot of the lower level leagues, I don't see how they could possibly afford to do that. Some of those leagues have trouble even making payroll. I don't doubt that a lot of them will pay for housing or at least give a nice stipend, but beyond that?

Didn’t know I had to type it all out the league itself is 4-5 months. Multiple leagues. Df countries.

Didn’t know go off had an age limit. What is the cutoff?

I have Snapchat as well. Should I get rid of it? Presume all you want.

They aren’t paying air bnb prices. I’m not saying luxury apartments.

For sure different leagues and such

Just asked muni himself.

His league pays for a car, insurance, housing and taxes.

That just highlights the utter and complete failure at OU to recruit post players. It’s been that way for 20 years or more. We have always had a black hole at center and PF with a few exceptions and we’ve never had depth or more than one quality player at those positions.
Who was our last great post…. (Was BG a true “post”…?)

Stacy?

4 PM on a Tuesday, and OU is going on the road against the #1 team in the country. I shouldn't be nervous, yet here I am. Nervous. We have nothing to lose (unless we just get stomped by 40) and so much to gain. Go play loose and compete (and win, pls!)

The Vegas angles on this game…. Are not promising. I thought it would be 13-14; but that 17.5 number is pretty staggering. Looks like Joe Public thinks it’s too many points and backing Sooners. For those who follow… generally not the greatest sign. That said, Joe Public DOES win too. But Goodness, I see almost no path to an actual victory here— I think it will probably take a strong effort to just cover the 17.5
